From 2003 to 2005, Jason Ritter played Kevin Girardi on Joan of Arcadia, which was cancelled after two seasons on CBS. On that show, his character’s sister Joan (Amber Tamblyn) was visited by God, who gave her assignments which at first seemed inconsequential, but generally caused positive ripples in the lives of those she touched. This year, Ritter debuts on ABC as another Kevin. Now, it is his turn to complete celestial assignments. Can he work miracles? Will Kevin (Probably) Saves the World be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
An ABC comedy-drama from creators Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, the Kevin (Probably) Saves the World TV show stars Jason Ritter, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Chloe East, J. August Richards, Dustin Ybarra, and India de Beaufort. The fantasy TV series centers on Kevin Finn. While he is not the world’s worst person, Kevin is self-involved and materialistic. While wallowing in his own misery, Kevin experiences a sequence of unbelievable events, then meets Yvette (Gregory), his heavenly guide. She informs him that he is the last of the 36 righteous born into his generation. Without the 36, everyone on Earth will begin to lose the only thing keeping them going — hope. Now, it is up to Kevin to “power up” his soul by committing selfless acts of kindness, so he can locate and anoint the next 36 and (probably) save the world.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Kevin (Probably) Saves the World TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season on ABC?
5/11/18 update: ABC has cancelled Kevin (Probably) Saves the World so there won’t be a second season. Details here.
The show had good intentions but the writing is clunky. Jason Ritter deserves better. He carries the show and is enough to keep me watching.
I hope they keep it. I like the show and the cast. If it is a death slot then why not give it a second season and see if it can gain viewers. It cost more to come up with a new concept and put it into production then one that already exist and if they all keep failing why not give it a chance to add more viewers as people start watching the reruns
One of the best shows I have watched in a long time love Jason Ritter and all the cast
Please keep Kevin Probably Saves the World on tv. I think it is a brilliant storyline with a positive message. Fantastic family show.
Please retool it a bit – get rid of the clunky parts and keep the good. Figure it out ! It has some feel good chemistry in a lot of areas.
Its like a modern day,, Highway to Heaven, we need more shows like these…..
Yes love love the show… season 2 3 4 ,,,,,
I love this show. It is a show I can watch with my daughter. Good family show – maybe move it to an earlier time slot – 8:00 maybe so more families could watch together.
Yes its a good family show ,, 9pm its a 2017 Highway to Heaven
I love this show! Its funny and a good family show. TV needs more of this.
I love this show!
No!
I think ABC needs to bring back Last Man Standing. There are so many reasons why but to simplify it for ABC executives…bring back Last Man Standing…get 8.1+ million viewers back!
This show is worth watching just for Jason Ritter alone.
Nothing can probably save this show is the ratings keep plunging.
Really silly show. Disappointed.
