From 2003 to 2005, Jason Ritter played Kevin Girardi on Joan of Arcadia, which was cancelled after two seasons on CBS. On that show, his character’s sister Joan (Amber Tamblyn) was visited by God, who gave her assignments which at first seemed inconsequential, but generally caused positive ripples in the lives of those she touched. This year, Ritter debuts on ABC as another Kevin. Now, it is his turn to complete celestial assignments. Can he work miracles? Will Kevin (Probably) Saves the World be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
An ABC comedy-drama from creators Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, the Kevin (Probably) Saves the World TV show stars Jason Ritter, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Chloe East, J. August Richards, Dustin Ybarra, and India de Beaufort. The fantasy TV series centers on Kevin Finn. While he is not the world’s worst person, Kevin is self-involved and materialistic. While wallowing in his own misery, Kevin experiences a sequence of unbelievable events, then meets Yvette (Gregory), his heavenly guide. She informs him that he is the last of the 36 righteous born into his generation. Without the 36, everyone on Earth will begin to lose the only thing keeping them going — hope. Now, it is up to Kevin to “power up” his soul by committing selfless acts of kindness, so he can locate and anoint the next 36 and (probably) save the world.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Kevin (Probably) Saves the World TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season on ABC?
5/11/18 update: ABC has cancelled Kevin (Probably) Saves the World so there won’t be a second season. Details here.
I absolutely love this show, only new show I like. I am sure it would get much better ratings if it was on at the same time, weekly and consistently. I was super disappointed it was not on last night.
Uplifting show. I would vote to keep this show. If this is a poor time slot, maybe I think would succeed.
This is a must-keep series! This series is real and kind regarding how to meet today’s challenges without losing our fellow-feeling toward others.
I want this show to continue. I finally find a show I like. Jason is a great actor, the writers need to beef it up a little. There needs to be a little more heartfelt.. Not bad or depressed but caring and loving events. With Kevin’s great sense of acting and humor I feel that even more viewers would watch. And it should air at 9pm on Sundays
Love the show, including the concept and characters. The episodes most memorable to me are when they take a leap to rise above the mediocre with higher ideas. Should be aired earlier as it appeals to middle and high school age which is slightly younger than the targeted age group. Really think this show has great potential and hope it continues.
I love this show and am crossing my fingers that it gets picked up for another season. Great concept, heartfelt, heartwarming and wonderful acting!
The best show of 2017 and I can tell you now also of 2018. Sad it isn’t getting the credit that it deserves. It’s a flawless show. And the best part of it is that it keeps getting better each episode! One of my all time favorite shows.
I have watched every episode so far and the show is still growing each week and needs to be renewed so it can continue to grow the characters and the story lines. It is a fantasy that relies on using the viewers imagination to escape for one hour into Kevin’s world. It is family oriented with strong messages of love, hope, etc. and makes anyone watching believe “WE ARE ALL THE CHOSEN ONES” just by doing good deeds for others…What is wrong with that? Jason Ritter is perfect for the comedy and drama needed to play the lead. The cast… Read more »
Please put this show in an early time slot. It’s so good, and worth saving. We love all the characters, and a show that makes you laugh and cry, deserves a shot.
Jason Ritter does a good job, but the show itself overall is annoying.
Love love love this show! Positive upbeat message
I love this show. I love the premise. Please don’t cancel
A truly unique show that I can’t wait to see each week. This is the first new show in a long time to have really caught my attention
It’s funny without trying too hard, its touching in a way that makes you really wanna be a good person. Plus, I love seeing Reese developing and getting better as she gets closer to her uncle. So sweet.
I think kevin probably saves the world, is exceptional. PLEASE do not cancel it!!
I love this show. It is very well balanced with humor and goodness. Jason is amazing. Please keep it for the wholesomeness we need.
The show is unique and deserves a better time slot possibly? The cast is irresistible, especially Jason! Don’t cancel it! Worst case scenario move it to Freeform. People need to know about the show to actually watch it and get the ratings ABC wants. Remember, they axed Last Man Standing too. Spread the word about this great program.
Kevin saves the world s an excellent written and acted show. The chemistry between the actors makes this show very special for viewers like myself. Please consider renewing this show for next year allowing viewers to continue to watch Kevin’s journey unfold.
