Tonight, TNT airs the last episode of King & Maxwell’s first season. Should the cop series return for a second season or should it be cancelled instead? Is it a ratings hit? Cancel or keep it?
King & Maxwell takes place in Washington, DC and revolves around a pair of former Secret Service agents (Jon Tenney and Rebecca Romijn) who’ve become private eyes. Co-stars in the series include Ryan Hurst, Michael O’Keefe, and Chris Butler.
The show debuted on June 10th to 3.52 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was a very positive start. Viewership fell 21% in week two but climbed back upward in later weeks.
A couple weeks ago, King & Maxwell nearly matched its premiere with 3.39 million and a 0.5 demo rating.
While the new show isn’t as popular as Major Crimes (4.82 million) or Rizzoli & Isles (5.66 million), it’s nearly matching fellow TNT dramas Falling Skies and Perception (3.53 million apiece).
Though they haven’t announced it yet, I suspect that TNT will bring King & Maxwell back for a second season.
But, what do you think? Does King & Maxwell deserve a second season? Or, should it be cancelled to make way for something else? Cancel or keep?
This show is great. Gotta keep it. I’ve been a King & Maxwell fan for years, and I really hoped that it would be as entertaining as the books. Although it’s different, I’m enjoying the heck out of the series.
Cancel this show. It is bland, mediocre, boring and full of silly clichés. The season finale should be the series finale. The forced acting, the forced “humor”, are plain and evident for anyone to see. Crap like this, in the wake of TNT blockbuster “The Closer”? Shameful. There is no chemistry in the cast, its all phoned-in. Having Rebecca Romijn doing more of the “physical” action is a nice twist, but she isn’t very convincing, nor is she particularly athletic. At no time do I buy Jon Tenney as a private eye AND a lawyer. Dichman Lachman, who plays the… Read more »
Definitely keep the show. I looked forward to it every week
Keep! We love the show and all the characters. Jon and Rebecca are doing a great job playing off each other. First season of any show has to get settled in. Great addition of Edgar and the ongoing storyline. Bennie is a fun character too.
T N T should keep this show. . I think the chemistry between the characters is a perfect match. They are funny and the episodes are good. This show should be a keeper. Come on, use your heads and keep this show. I don’t miss a week
Keep it. It’s great and very entertaining
Yes renew this show and definitely more Edgar. Ryan Hurst is great in any role he plays!
All the actors on this series are good, please bring it back!
KEEP IT – LOVE EDGAR!!
I think King and Maxwell should get a second season – it is a very good show – love it as much as The Closer – Major Crimes – I love Sean King – loved him as Fritz in The Closer .
Definitely a keeper. Loved the show from the beginning and it just got better as it went along. It definitely deserves a 2nd season. I love the characters.
It sucks. The only thing worse is Rizzoli & Isles. No one can act on either show. Cancel them both.
It is a great show. They all work great together. My favorite person is the guy that works on the computer. I can’t wait to see the show again. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I hope it stays on.
Keep it. Great show. Look forward to it each Minday. The best new show this summer.
renew the series for another season. Tenney & Romijiin are well suited to one another as King and Maxwell.. The slow acceleration wwas due to a few weak scripts. They improved as the series went on. Shane Brennan knows best of all the need for good writing. It all starts on the printed page. So, if you are going to spend money improving the series start with the writers. Good isn’t cheap. Pennies spent at the front will reap dollars at the back. Just look at NCIS. If it wasn’t for the writing Harmon would have bailed along time ago.
King & Maxwell is a great show, it should get a season 2.
