Earlier this week, we reported ABC has cancelled Of Kings and Prophets after two episodes. Now, some of the series’ producers have reacted to the biblical drama’s swift cancellation.
Of Kings and Prophets starred Ray Winstone, Olly Rix, and Simone Kessell in stories based on the Biblical Books of Samuel.
On their Facebook page, producers Reza Aslan and Mahyad Tousi expressed disappointment with ABC’s decision but sounded hopeful about the series getting picked up somewhere else:
We feel confident that ABC Studios will find a new home for our show so that the millions of you who have tuned in to see it will get an opportunity to see the rest of this tale, and that millions more will have the opportunity to see it.”
As of now, ABC is not airing the drama’s remaining eight episodes.

What do you think? Did you watch Of Kings and Prophets? Do you think it should’ve been cancelled? Do you think another network should pick up the series?
very upset that ABC took this show off air instead of giving it another try , it is a very good show , instead they want a bunch of crap on , guess I just won’t be watching ABC anymore.
I can’t believe the Network cancelled and left viewers “hang” like they did. Please finish airing on Hulu at least.
I’m terribly disappointed this series has been canceled. The 2 episodes aired were excellent! Please bring the series back!!!
Very disappointed in ABC for cancelling
It isn’t right to start a program and then cancel it. It’s followers are left hanging. ABC can’t care too much for its audience
I watched the first episode yesterday on demand and had the second one recorded to watch this week. I so enjoyed it and when I went here to see more about the actors and such, I see that it is being cancelled!!! Why is that?? It is nice to see something educational for a change. It was so good!!! I am so disappointed.
Very disappointed in abc for not standing up for this show it was really the only good thing they have had for family for years and accomplished being pretty close to biblical accuracy wirh great actin, I will no longrr support watching abc, i feel like they did set this show up to fail by putting it against voting time, shame on them for not allowing viewers to decide what they like by airing on unfair and inaccurate playing field.
Very upset. It is s very intelligent show
It is typical that a bible based television show would be cancelled in a world that is in such need of bible knowledge. My husband and I really enjoyed watching this show. We are hoping another network picks up this show.
Was enjoying the series with family and was blindsided with the cancellation. Hope it finds a new home soon!
I am highly disappointed that this intriguing rendition of the bible based on David and King Saul was cancelled! I have thoroughly enjoyed the story and the music so far. I’m hoping that it will get picked up by another television station or possibly Netflix.
I am really disappointed over the cancellation. It was a worthwhile program in light of the poor quality of other programming on TV. Anything relating to the Bible seems to take a back seat.
I loved it and I am mad as all hell that they pulled it.
I’m very disappointed at ABC, i never ever watch anything they air because its frankly all crap nothing worth watching and the one time they actually have something going they cancel it within two episodes…what a shame!!!!!. One of the many reason why me and my family won’t even bother tuning in to ABC anymore. I’m truly hoping another station picks up this show it was absolutely entertaining and enjoyable in only two episodes.
Great show..brought the bible to life. Too bad ABC didn’t give this series a chance but typical
As a pastor, I thought the series was great, even though it strayed a bit from the Biblical text, and hope Amazon or someone airs the rest of the episodes. So disappointed ABC cancelled it. Looks like they set it up for failure by airing it on major days of Primary voting.
