After three seasons, ABC Family’s Kyle XY TV show is coming to an end. Will viewers get answers to the ongoing storylines about the young man without a belly button?
Kyle XY centers around a young man (Matt Dallas) who wakes up in the middle of a Seattle forest — naked and without a memory. The police call in psychologist Nicole Trager (Marguerite MacIntyre) for assistance and she ends up bringing him home. Her husband Stephen (Bruce Thomas), daughter Lori (April Matson), and son Josh (Jean-Luc Bilodeau) almost immediately take to “Kyle” and make him feel like part of the family. He begins to show incredible intelligence and physical abilities that lead the Tragers to realize there’s far more to Kyle than meets the eye. Others in the series include Chris Olivero, Kirsten Prout, Jaimie Alexander, Nicholas Lea, Chelan Simmons, Magda Apanowicz, Martin Cummins, Leah Cairns, J. Eddie Peck, Teryl Rothery, Conrad Coates, Cory Monteith, Josh Zuckerman, Kurt Max Runte, and Malcolm Stewart.
The show premiered on June 26, 2006 on ABC Family and became an instant hit. It attracted 2.6 million viewers and became the cable network’s highest-rated show to date. The pilot was repeated on ABC and over 5.2 million people watched. The first season was made up of 10 episodes and the show was quickly renewed for a second year.
Kyle continued to enjoy very healthy ratings into the second season. They were so good that ABC Family ended up ordering 23 episodes, a longer season than most series on the major networks. In May 2007, ABC Family president Paul Lee proudly said, “Kyle XY is the highest-rated show ever on ABC Family; it is truly the show that has defined this network.”

Unfortunately, that sunny outlook didn’t continue for very long once the ratings started to fall in the latter part of season two. Kyle’s third season’s premiere episode attracted just 1.5 million viewers and other ABC Family shows outperformed it by a wide margin.
ABC Family has just announced the renewal of two shows — Greek and Lincoln Heights — as well as the cancellation of Kyle. No details were given for the cancellation but the decline in ratings, higher production costs, and castmember contracts coming up for renewal are all believed to be contributing factors.
The third season of Kyle kicked off on January 12th and is expected to conclude on March 16th. It seems likely that the network will continue to air all of the episodes on schedule.
Because the series finale was shot well before the cancellation news came down, it seems unlikely that all of the show’s ongoing storylines will be resolved when the last episode airs. Will fans get the answers they’re looking for or will they be left hanging forever?

And with the end of the Season finding out about cassidy and all – they cant just end it like that. Id like at least 1 more Season that lets us know what happened and all the secrets. Cos ive been dying to find out and i cant wait any longer. PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER SEASON ! Kyle XY ROCKS !
I am in love with this show… I’m so depressed it’s cancelled! The plotlines, the cast, the acting… it was all awesome. They should at least do a movie to resolve all the plot lines.
plz dont cancel the season 4 of KYLE XY , because the last episode ended on kyle holding cassidy n cassidy said tht he is his brother nw i wanna knw how it is possible tht cassidy is kyles bro com on people …………. lyke kyle is a result ov an experiment how is it possible tht he is related to CASIIDY :@
if they are going to cancel the show they should make at least one more episode to explain everthing you cheap ******** and for liniusori; kyle doesnt have much of a personality because he was grown in a f***ing pod. oh ya and your parents need to quit lying to you there is no santa cluase and there is no god grow up and quit playing with dolls and imaginary friends. your the one that needs to be burned at the stake or lined up in front of a firing squad.
I was in love with the series , i committed myself to watch every single episode and ABC is honestly disrespecting me and all other viewers. After Kyle xy gave you all the rating and **** you guys never back them up like you were supposed to, what kind of channel is that. I promise to myself to never watch a series from you guys or anything that has to be with ABC “Family”

I cant believe abc just went off and cancelled this show! Shouldnt they atleast have the courtesy to produce a couple more episodes just enough to finish the storyline!! Its so unfair especially when we as viewers have been committed to watching this episode all along and then they direspect us by suddenly cancelling the show and leaving us hanging? shame on them they should never be trusted again!!

No season 4? What is ABC thinking leaving viewers hanging like this. If I can’t trust them to finish a story line why should I even bother to watch any of the other shows they air? After all there is no guarantee ABC will actually follow through, more than likely they will just walk away in the middle of something fantastic. Listen Kids the show was horrible, matt dallas was annoying because he had no personality. He ruined the freakin show. The mother in the show should stop squinting so much…and what about the moral values they screwed up trying to tell teens that having sex before marriage is fine…that **** “Lori” and her perverted brother should be burned at the stake in season four if they ever have one. Telling teens to go angainst Gods will and fornicate is evil….the whole show is evil everyone on the show is evil CREATING PEOPLE IN LABS IS EVIL

I agree with cc, a last episode to wrap up story lines would at least comfort viewers…
Disappointing. A final special to wrap up story lines should be done if ABC cares about their viewers.
