What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, The Last Kingdom stars Alexander Dreymon, David Dawson, Emily Cox, Ian Hart, Tobias Santelmann, Thure Lindhardt, Millie Brady, Alexandre Willaume, Julia Bache-Wiig, Joseph Millson, and Peter McDonald. An adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s novel series, The Saxon Stories, the historical drama follows Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Dreymon), the son of a 9th Century Saxon nobleman. After killing his father, Danish invaders kidnap the boy and he is raised by their warlord, Ragnar. Years later, when Ragnar is killed, Uhtred vows to avenge him, even as he returns to Bebbanburg to claim his birthright.

Telly’s Take
Unless Netflix decides to release streaming “ratings” it is always difficult to gauge the success of streaming TV shows, like The Last Kingdom. So, let’s look at what we do know. Netflix became a co-producer after the first season ran on BBC Two in UK and BBC America in the US. And in the US, the second season will have its first run on Netflix, leaving BBC America out of the picture. They must have some faith in the project. Provided the show continues to do well in both the UK and in the international markets that get the series via Netflix, I suspect The Last Kingdom will be renewed for season three. 9/26/17 update: Though a season three renewal hasn’t been announced, there have been reports of season three casting and filming.

i truly hope there will be a season three esp. since season 2 was so much better than season one if they pull the plug now it would be a huge mistake
I also am just finishing binge watching seasons one and two.. I would really like the show to continue.
I came across this show while scanning what was available on Netflix. I just love it! I watch over and over. Picking up little things I missed each time. Alexander is amazing in it and brings so much emotion to it at times it moves me. Please have a season 3 and even more!
I just binge watched season 1 and 2. I could not be more pleased with this show. Fantastic fight scenes. Compared to events that take place in one episode I would say other shows it would take three. Each episode is action packed. I cannot suffer to think it will be cancelled. Please come out with a season three and four like immediately!!!! Thanks:)
This is one of the best historical dramas series ever produced. Period. The writing is superb as is the directing, editing, pacing, costuming, locations, and especially the acting. The series brings to life the religious conflict of Christian and Pagan, mixed with the ethnic conflict among Saxon, Brit and Dane that converged in medieval England. The characters are actually likeable even though morally ambiguous. In other words, the characters are very human. Absolutely LOVE this show! The actors are spectacular, the historic events are dramatic and realistic and the show is extremely well-written! Please continue on with Season 3!!!!
