Will there be another season of The Last Kingdom? SpoilerTV reports the UK series has been renewed for a third season.
The historical drama, which streams on Netflix in the U.S., takes place during the early history of England, when the land was divided into separate kingdoms. The cast includes Alexander Dreymon, David Dawson, Emily Cox, Ian Hart, and Tobias Santelmann.
Recently, a casting notice was released for season three of The Last Kingdom. Neither Netflix nor the BBC have confirmed a renewal, but the casting notice suggests there most likely will be.

The Last Kingdom is an excellent period drama. There is the usual amount of violence to keep today’s audiences satisfied; however, the excellence of the acting, the revelation of a little known period of English history, and the endearing and often cheeky qualities of the characters as translated by the scriptwriters from Bernard Cornwell’s masterful books, will endure, I hope, for a long long time.
My favorite comment. I’d upvote you more than once if I could.
Great show, featuring an alternate view of the events that took place on Vikings from the History Channel. Whereas Vikings followed Ragnar Lothbrok, this follows the story from a Saxon noble who was raised by Ragnar and is caught between the two cultures and follows his own ethics. All of this while on a quest to reclaim his birthright, where his family’s seat was usurped by a shifty uncle.
Bernard Cornwell, a widely respected historical fiction author wrote the books this show is based on. He is also credited by George RR Martin as big influence.
