Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

My favorite show too. Great to see a show without a lot of garbage thrown into it,
ABC is also renewing Once Upon a Time, which only averages a 0.94 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.17 million viewers while probably costing much more to make than Last Man Standing, which draws more than twice the audience, despite One Upon a Time’s main character leaving the show. Amazing.
Such an intelligent thought provoking clever show a laugh every second this show should stay it’s contemporary and always on point

Last Man Standing is one of the best shows on network television right now! It’s cancellation is such a huge mistake! The only thing that kept me home on Friday nights (Tim Allen & gang) will definitely lose me if/when this show goes!! Horrendous mistake ABC!!
This is one of my favorite shows. Watch the reruns on Netflix and on cable. Loved the variety of characters. Very sad. Very, very sad.
Yes, I’m upset that LMS has been cancelled. Season Six’ Finale was not a good ending for a program that was going to be cancelled. There is no closure for all the people who really enjoyed watching the program on Friday nights. Yet, it was cancelled with their 6 million viewers, for a Friday night, but other shows that had much less viewers, got renewed. Go figure. I looked forward to watching this show. What happen to freedom of speech? When the shoe is on the other foot and liberals are crying and the truth hurts let’s remove it from tv. Can’t believe ABC is weak, guess it’s a network not worth watching
Love this show! Great chemistry and well written. By far one of the best sitcoms. Hoping some other network picks this up.
