Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.
What do you think? Do you still watch the Last Man Standing TV series? Are you upset that it’s been cancelled?
What a shame they cancelled this show. There is not much I watch any more on TV. Seems they are not interested in a conservative audience. Oh well, I will still watch Modern family, yes shocking a conservative watches Modern Family.
I am very upset the last man standing has bee cancelled. It is the best as far as wit synergy an moral good the any I have seen. Let us pray that another network picks it up. I keep watching episodes on Netflix and hulu. I consider last man standing to be an award winning show. Please bring it back.
This was a great show; no reason to cancel except political!
Favorite show. Another casualty of liberals who can’t stand anything that might sound conservative. If you can’t beat em, get rid of them. Sad, so sad. Hopefully Fox will pick it up, since they produce it.
I love this show! It’s the best show on TV!! Please have another network pick it up!!
This is the best show on all tv channels! Love it and hope another network picks it up! Please keep this show on the air!
It’s sad because it’s always seems to be about money, it’s a show that family’s can watch together and just enjoy laughing! There just don’t seem like there’s enough GOOD AND FUNNY SIT COMS LEFT! I sure hope another channel picks it up, so we can continue to look forward to watching
I am done with ABC for cancelling Last Man Standing
Absolutely love this show. We look forward to it every Friday night. Feeling depressed that it’s been cancelled .
Yes I still watch it and it is the best. Since you will not carry any longer, I hope they are picked up on a worthy channel. Just can’t believe you would cancel
So disappointed – love this show. Tim is excellent. Will definitely follow if picked up elsewhere.
What a shame! Loved the show. Someone please pick this show up !! Only show on ABC that we watched. Major mistake on their part
No they can’t end last man standing such a great show. ABC what’s wrong with you !
I am so disappointed and shocked that Last Man Standing will be cancelled. It has been so wonderful to have a good comedy show to watch, especially with all the negative things going on in the news. Of all the comedy’s this was the best! I can’t believe you are keeping the other junk that’s called comedy. Please change your mind and keep the best comedy around…Last Man Standing. Tim Allen is the best!
Love the show. Hopefully another station will pick it up. Gonna miss my 8:00 Friday night. All the good shows always canceled. At least we can watch reruns.
Bye ABC!- your network will go back to being irrelevant in my house. One of the few good, family friendly shows on tv…. Hopefully another network or Netflix will
pick it up.
