Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

We absolutely love Last Man STtanding. Just discovered it this year and watch it over and over. We were so looking forward to next season, and now so disappointed. Please reconsider, ABC!

I remember when MASH was a favorite show and the Cosbys … I really have enjoyed the realism of Last Man Standing because I can relate to the show so well . Why would this be a ratings issue when all I have read in the comments of entire support of this show makes me wonder if this is a political issue . This is/was the only show I will watch on ABC . This is crazy that ABC is cancelling this hilarious show!!! I sure hope someone else is smart enough to pick this show up…thank goodness for re-runs!!!!!!!!!!!! Love, this show & the cast!!!!

Yes, I still watch last man standing, it’s one of the few shows that my husband and I watch. If it doesn’t have sex , killings , or zombies. It not good tv any more. It’s a good show that teaches good values. Why are good shows canceled? We need to do something. Tv is really going down hill. Please bring back last man standing. I don’t write reviews, nor do I voice my opinion, but this is one time I couldn’t stay silent. Don’t take away one of the best shows on tv.

What is wrong with you people? Last Man Standing is a wonderful family show that you are cancelling. Everyone that watches ABC (that is normal human being) really liked this show. I myself loved this show and so does my family. Can the normal people of the world have at least one good/excellent show to watch for themselves? Tim Allen we support you all the way. Maybe some network with balls will pick you up and continue this wonderful show. Love to all the cast members!!!
This was one of the few shows our family watches on ABC. Cancelling LMS was a very poor decision and certainly appears to be politically motivated. Our household no longer has any reason to watch ABC. The Liberal Media seem to be determined to silence conservative and Christian voices. No one is allowed to express a diversity of ideas and opinions. Liberals believe they can win back the White House by ending free speech and silencing different opinions. You will not succeed.
We watch it on Netflix and we love it! It figures the lame stream media would cancel it and would continue to watch it somewhere else.
What the hell, one of the most enjoyable shows I have seen and I can’t believe the ratings are as low as you say, I believe the reasons are political!
