Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

This is a shame. The show was one of the very few Honest shows currently on. With the exception of “Designated Survivor”, this was the only ABC show that I watch. With the ending of Grimm, and this show, Friday night is going to be a quiet night on network TV … unless some other network comes in an picks it up. Here’s hoping!
I am upset. I love this show. Comedy in EVERY episode. Relatable. Why not cancel one of the MANY mindless, dumb series you show? Why take away the good shows?
Yes, I’m upset. One of the truly funny show week after week and it gets canceled? Plenty of other mindless boring shows to cancel. Leave the good ones alone!! Can’t believe another nite or time slot couldnt be found.

Last man standing is the funniest show on tv next to the big bang theory. Are ypu crazy for not renewing this great show
I am liberal and I love this show….can not understand the thinking behind this decision. Hoping some one profits off of ABC’s lack of insight and runs this show.
I think ABC Entertainment’s President Channing Dungey should be “CANCELLED”! Im sorry, but what an idiot! Why would anyone cancel a show that is doing so well just because they don’t want sitcoms on Friday anymore. If a show is doing well then schedule it to come on another night. Cancel a show that’s not doing well and replace it with”Last Man Standing”. I believe it has to do with politics.
Last Man Standing is my favorite show on tv right. I think it’s a great show and I think ABC is making a huge mistake. I hope another network picks them up. SMH
