Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

Extremely disappointed… My husband and I enjoyed watching it; even the reruns…It truly is sad when you take a decent show off the air.
Very sorry it has been cancelled. TV has become totally uninteresting-one if my last shows on ABC I watched. Goodbye ABC for me!

My family is heartbroken over the cancellation of Last Man Standing. This is the funniest, most wholesome show on T.V. The relationships are believable and relevant. There is so much garbage on television, it’s unbelievable ABC cancelled this show. I truly hope they see the error of their ways or that another station picks it up. For now, I will continue to watch the reruns on every channel that runs it. It makes me sick to think about all the fine people ABC put out of work over a licensing issue or or political differences.
Best comedy on tv! Can’t believe ABC would drop it. Now there’s nothing left to watch. So sad.

There aren’t many sitcoms out there any more that are truly funny. Last Man Standing is one of them. I do Love this show, I would hate to see it canceled. Please bring it back.
