Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

I am heartbroken ….This is an excellent show… I believe it removed due to political difference in the entertainment world.. Really is a shame….
Our family is very disappointed to hear that LMS has been cancelled. We love the comedy that Tim Allen brings into our home each week. Please reconsider and bring LMS back.
I’m also very disappointed. I really loved the show. Seems like shows get cancelled even when they are popular. After a long week, I found the show took my mind off all the problems in the world. ABC drops good shows and keeps junk on the air. I’m so tired of this.
A crying shame. Maybe take it to Netflix where Baxter can openly speak his mind!
Last Man Standing was truly the last of an era of family friend, funny, smart shows. Just shows you that the networks promote cultural decay. Although I’m sure they’d prefer to look at it as growth!
This is a political move by ABC to silence. Check out the costs of Modern Family when they renewed their contracts. Money has zero to do with this, and it’s all about the show’s great stand on American Values and a show that finally calls out the liberals. This is one of the last great sitcoms our family actually watches. Another network needs to cash in on this ‘cash cow’ of a series. Someone would be crazy not to. Disappointed yes, surprised no. Seems all networks are becoming trash now. They just don’t know how to stop us from leaving and watching streaming only, though the answer is right in front of their faces. I really hate Hollywood now.
BIG time disappointment that such a great show was cancelled. Friday nights ARE tough for ANY show. If the network had put this in another slot, it would have gotten better (initial) exposure and took off faster. Story line had lots of life left. I LOVED the writing that espouses family values, and anti-PC is GOOD in this day and age. I hope someone else re-lights this show up in a better day/time so it can continue to entertain us all with it’s very likeable sense of humor!
ABC…..how stupid can you be. This is by far the best show on your network. Liberals at ABC cannot take the moral values this show instills. Hey, we don’t want to upset the liberals! I don’t watch much TV but never missed this show, even if on DVR delay. I for sure have scratched ABC off the list of channels I will watch.
Definitely disappointed. I hope CBS didn’t do this for political reasons. I was told about this show and we started watching it on Netflix and love it. Don’t kill something that is working. Dumb.

Yes, I’m disappointed that the show “Last Man Standing” is cancelled! The way season six and the series ended was no way to end the series. It should’ve been brought back for season seven and had a proper sendoff!
I’m pissed off!!!!!! The only reason I watch ABC is because of Last Man Standing but no more. I know Hollywood is all about the almighty dollar but for once can we keep a show that’s not raunchy not everyone wants to watch a bunch of men or women fall in fake scripted love like the Bachelor and Bachelorette. So un-cool. Political correctness has ruined another decision. Major networks better start looking at the American people as a whole and not just the loud-mouth minorities that are taking over this country. Done with this network!
