Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

I really wish they would have given it one more season to kind of wrap all the stories up with a nice retrospective and a nice 1 hour finale. I will miss this show .

Of COURSE I’d still watch “Last Man Standing” … ABC, you TOTALLY screwed up with your decision. I can name several shows airing on ABC that are racist and unacceptable, but you’re going to let a long time standing comedian like Tim Allen, who speaks lingo and real life things that people can relate and agree with be the reason for “letting go with the show?” I hope Netflix picks up new seasons and then we’ll watch ABC cry because the real reason for letting this show end through your broadcast company, is because like many other left sided putz’s… Read more »
My Father and I watch it together and even record it to watch if he has to work. I have seen shows do much worse in ratings and viewership. Honestly, short of the Shannara Chronicales, I have no other reason to watch ABC. So right now I think they can kiss most of their viewership good bye, along with our collective asses
I absolutely love this show, and I’m so sorry it’s going away I will definitely miss it along w/my Grimm on NBC. I hate that the networks cancel there best shows, it makes you not even want to get invested in them…
I agree, I think this is a fantastic show and there’s a bunch of idiots that don’t like it for some reason they don’t know what good shows is about. Every time a good show comes on they take it off what is this world coming two. The worst part about it to replace it with something for a bunch of morons and no cents a hit going to tell you some of these people nowadays ain’t worth a crap.
What is wrong with you ABC. When a series has poor ratings you cancel them. When a series has good ratings you cancel them.
Good comedy is hard to find on tv these days. Last Man Standing IS one of the few this is actually funny and more importantly one of the few shows on a Friday night worth watching. Its NOT a reality show, thankfully, there are NO aliens or vampires, thankfully, its good, clean, fun to watch tv. Give your viewers a break, keep this great comedy show going.
This has been one of my favorites of all time. Hope someone else picks it up so the story line and jokes can continue. So enjoyable to watch!
Never missed an episode and watch the reruns all the time. This makes no sense. They certainly aren’t concerned about the fans so maybe we should organize and show them we can stop caring about them.
