Variety reports TNT has cancelled three of their series: Legends, Public Morals, and Agent X.
The announcement comes on the same day the network granted season renewals for The Librarians, Major Crimes, and Murder in the First.
Starring Sean Bean, Legends’ second season premiered in November, after a complete series revamp. Ratings were poor for season one, with an average viewership of only 1.53 million. But even with a new showrunner and serialized approach to the spy drama, the second season has not fared much better in the ratings.
TNT’s new historical cop drama Public Morals debuted in August. However, the freshman series starring Ed Burns as a member of NYPD’s Public Morals Division in the 1960s, performed even worse in the ratings than season two of Legends. Season one only garnered an average 18-49 demo rating of .15 and an average of 880,000 total viewers.
TNT’s other freshman series, Agent X, premiered in November. The series, which stars Sharon Stone as a new Vice President in charge of a secret operative, has fared better than the first season of Public Morals in the ratings, but not by much. With only three episodes left, the series has averaged a total of 1.066 million viewers.
Legends ends it second season on December 28th, while Agent X ends is first and only season on December 27th.
What do you think? Did you watch either Legends, Public Morals, or Agent X? Are you disappointed they were cancelled?
I don’t know why I keep getting suckered into watching new stuff. I like Legends, and the flashbacks in Season 2 have been very interesting. And despite being a little trite and even predictable, I enjoyed Public Morals for what it was. TNT is only hurting themselves with these cancellations. They lose their viewers’ trust. Like many, I am very unlikely to give any of their new shows a chance in future. Why would I waste my time? Life is short!
So true, Scarlett!
I very much enjoy Agent X and wish TNT would not cancel the show. It seems like all the good shows go by the wayside. There is going to be a million plus people greatly disappointed…. shouldn’t that count for something with a network? The “all mighty dollar” seems to rob the minority of what little enjoyment they can get. Why won’t the network shareholders take a smaller profit margin in order to make customer satisfaction their priority? Isn’t a smaller profit good enough when it fosters customer loyalty and appreciation? Are they that controlled by greed that they won’t… Read more »
Agent X has been fun so far, but no real character development. Legends season 1 was good, but season 2 is too frenetic – it’s hard to keep track of all the storylines when it keeps bouncing between years every 30 seconds.
I have really enjoyed Agent X, however fantastic the premise may be. I loved season one of Legends, but I didn’t enjoy the “reimagined” second season — the time-skipping was far too frequent and unnecessary, IMO. It was just too much work to keep up with it! I should know better, in any case, to get too involved in any show on TNT — the network is quick to cancel, far more so than the broadcast networks. I’ll enjoy the final episodes of Agent X and move on…
I quit tnt.
Well that’s it for TNT, I’m done! They cancel their three best shows, three of my favorites, and keep three shows that I don’t even watch! By-by TNT! I hope that you keep the morons happy!
I watch more or less every TNT tv show and I’m very disappointed that Agent X is cancelled, and I watched first season of Legends and I loved it, but I was a bit disappointed when I saw that cast from first season isn’t in season two, but still it was good show
I can’t believe it! I watch both Legends and Agent X and think they are both great shows. Like a previous comment, I don’t think networks give shows enough time for people to start watching and get hooked. There have been so many great shows and they get cancelled far too quickly. It is very discouraging. I hope they reonsider on both of these.
I think the first season was much easier to follow. They should have left it alone.
As usual they cancel the good shows, I don’t care about the other two but I’m really annoyed they cancelled Agent X it’s really good and interesting I love John Case he’s awesome and Sharon Stone is great. This show should be one for more than one season!!!!!!!! I thought that Agent X was Bravo original?
Disappointed for all 3 cancelees especially Public Morals … oh well
I am so sick & tried of watching anything new on these cable networks because nothing every stays on long enough for any show to get a fan base. These neworks & cable all they go with are numbers, I liked Agent X .
Agent X is a great show I love watching it I’m surprised you didn’t renew it he had excellent actors and actresses the writing and the plot was great it just had to be recorded on my DVR and watch later that night but I watch every week of it so did my brother it is an excellent show so maybe you can reconsider and renew Agent X
Shame, liked agent x (just like I liked the transporter series) however don’t care about the others.
Geez, I really liked Public Morals – fun show looking back to the era; and was liking Agent X which was an interesting take on the VP’s job description and value. They have not even given them a chance. Dissappointing. I did watch Legends Season 1 but the premiere show was more difficult to watch for me than expected and I was planning on going back on demand to watch it and the rest of the season away from the other shows I have been trying to keep up on. So cannot say I liked or disliked Legends.
