Why did CBS cancel Limitless? At this summer’s TCA press tour, network chief Glenn Geller explained why there will be no second season of the series, TVInsider reports.
Based on the 2011 film, the drama followed Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who is given a special drug that unlocks 100% of his brain. The cast also included Jennifer Carpenter, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Hill Harper, and Colin Salmon.
During the panel, Geller said CBS cancelled Limitless because he didn’t “think it connected with the viewers”:
Ultimately we had to look at the show; it was a very good show, but I don’t think it connected with the viewers as well as other shows had. Yeah, we could have brought it back. But we also have to put on new shows and give other things a shot. It could have come back, but we have to do better; we want to improve time periods. That’s why we put on new shows.”
What do you think? Did you watch Limitless? Do you think the show should’ve been renewed?
Limitless was the best show on TV. Just a blast.
Instead, we have a horribly watered down NCIS… and Bull, which is already wearing thin.
Our whole family watched this show and loved it. It had humor, mystery, and good story lines. While I like all the NCIS shows, how many can you have? Cancel New Orleans and bring back Limitless!
Limitless CONNECTED with me and I thought the show was terrific and the actors who appeared on Limitless were nothing short of spectacular. Maybe CBS needs to CONNECT with its viewing audience… CBS needs to absolutely bring Limitless back for a Season 2.
I loved that show so much it completely changed the way I wee and think of things. After watching that show I felt like I could do more with my life so I would try harder at everything I would do. I can’t believe they actually said that it didn’t connect with the people.
I really loved the show……. Why get rid of the the really good shows, and keep the crappy ones???
If they have to cancel it they should at least give us a true finale. They left so much to question! I loved the show! 🙁
Everybody who loved #Limitless show help us to bring it back.
There is actually a petition on change.org to bring limitless back for a second season. Please, if you really care, go and sign it!

From whose perspective did he come to such an asinine conclusion? You’ve got better odds at a casino than the fickle nature of a network executive.
So disappointed this show was canceled. I had no idea. It was one of the few shows my whole family would make a point to watch together. I was just recommending Limitless to friend yesterday. My son just asked me when it was coming back. With so much “junk” or “mature” programming, it’s difficult to find a show that a family can enjoy together. We are very disappointed!!!!
My husband and I loved Limitless! If it wasn’t doing the job for the network, it should cancel, but network executives should recognize that the investment viewers make in a continuing drama is different, deeper, than the one they make to a sitcom or reality show and the network OWES the viewers a finale episode or movie that ends the story.

This is the reason I am afraid to watch new shows on TV…we get hooked and then it gets cancelled…this show was brilliant. Now when a new show comes out I won’t watch it until it runs more than 2 seasons andnis proven to be coming back. CBS..this is not the way to get or keep viewers
I got hooked on limitless for some reason. I enjoyed the movie but that’s not why I watched the series. I loved the blacklist and watched limitless because a friend told me I would like it, and she was right. There is a lot of great competition out there and I will miss Limitless . Thanks Bradley
CBS, I want to connect my fist to your brain through your skull to ensure my feedback has been received and fully understood.
Didn’t connect ? Who says ? What an insult ! Great p.r. boys and girls . Who is the genius that decided a pile of dung like that was the least offensive way to tell us you needed to cancel a show that a lot of us obviously enjoyed . He is not getting the job done unless the job is to degrade your product and drive off your customers .
