TV show description:
Based on the Superman comic books, this live-action series follows the lives of Lois Lane and Clark Kent more than Clark’s super-powered alter ego.
Years ago, Jonathan and Martha Kent (Eddie Jones and K Callan) watched a small spacecraft crash land in a field in Smallville, Kansas. Investigating, they find a small baby and decide to raise him as their own child, In the comic books, by the time Clark reaches adulthood, the Kents have passed away. In this version, they’re still alive and frequently visit their adopted son. Martha even makes Clark’s Superman costume for him.
As an adult, Clark (Dean Cain) moves to Metropolis and gets a job at the Daily Planet newspaper. He works under editor Perry White (Lane Smith), a gruff news veteran with a great appreciation for all things Elvis.
Clark works alongside young photographer, Jimmy Olsen (Michael Landes, later Justin Whalin), and a very sexy gossip columnist, Cat Grant (Tracy Scoggins).
Clark is directly partnered with reporter Lois Lane (Teri Hatcher), a no-nonsense gal who will do just about anything for a story, even if it means putting her own life in jeopardy. Clark immediately falls for her, but she’s not very interested. Instead, she’s infatuated with Clark’s secret alter-ego, Superman, who fights crime and often ends up saving her life.
Superman’s arch enemy is Lex Luthor (John Shea), a rich industrialist and genius, who only wants ultimate power and wealth. He’s initially delighted to have a worthy adversary in the man of steel. He’s also infatuated with Lois Lane and, since Superman seems unattainable, she starts to return his affections.
The best series ever. End very disappointing. Wished there was a season 5.
All 4 seasons are on DVD and are farly cheap on Amazon. Season one is like $8.
AS long ago as his series was on , I still have not seen it all the way through – back when this series was on most of us were working and could not see it or it was on a channel we did not get. Now the HUB only has it on on late night only on weekends and it is still hard to catch and only if you have Cable. They also had Sliders on only once on weekends late night. THAT was another series that was wonderful and should have never ended when it did. Wish more… Read more »
