Based on the “Walt Longmire” mystery novels by Craig Johnson, Longmire has been a very successful TV series for A&E in the ratings. Will that trend continue? Will the show be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned!
Longmire follows the life of a Wyoming county sheriff who’s returned to work following his wife’s demise. With the support of his family and co-workers, he solves cases and works to stay in office. The cast includes Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Bailey Chase, Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
8/28 update: Longmire has been cancelled by A&E after three seasons. However…
11/19 update: Netflix has picked up the series for a fourth season.
Final season averages: 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.52 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The second season of Longmire attracted a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.7 million total viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers and are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Longmire TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fourth season?
Please keep this show on the air. If A&E cancels it, I will follow it to which ever channel does pick up this fabulous show. I don’t know why when a descent show finally comes along, the networks seem to cancel them. Just how many reality shows do we need. If the networks keep canceling my kind of shows, I will just cancel my DirecTV service, and save a lot of money and time.
LONGMIRE is the Best show that A&E has to offer. I do not fit the “demographics” that tv seems to think are the leaders. If we older folks did not give the younger ones money to spend, then they would have none to buy the stuff advertised. So they might want to rethink “where they THINK” who has the money to spend. LONGMIRE was and still is a wonderful show. Much better than most of the trash that they expect us to watch. LONGMIRE at least has a story line with real, believeable people. The stories are actually things that… Read more »
The show was great. My wife enjoyed and anticipated each episode. We hope another network will pick this show up.
Must not cancel this show
Great show, please continue!
Walt Longmire is a cross between the Marlboro man and James Arness. Who couldn’t love a series with a star like that? With all the forensic shows, reality acting and vampires on it is hard to find a good western show like we all enjoyed in the 70’s and miss today. I hope someone picks up this show for another season.
I recently found this show on Netflix and watched every episode. I love the show and hope that it will be picked up by another network. I’m anxious to see more episodes!

Love the show!! Hope another network picks it up. It deserves to be on tv!!!!
please continue Longmire,,,, GREAT show, I have read all the books and waiting for the new season is unbearable,,,, awesome choice on characters and stories,,,
I love this show. Do not cancel it.
I love this show! Individually and collectively, the characters provide the best entertainment on tv. Longmire’s relationship with his female deputy, with his male deputies, with the bar owner, with people on the res, with his assistant, with the former sheriff, with out of state authorities, and with each person he comes in contact with is both endearing and challenging. The show needs to be continued!
I can quickly name 10 local viewers who will be so disappointed and saddened if the show does not continue. Longmire needs to be renewed! Please!
One of the few programs that are worth watching. I feel that
the way they determin the ratings stink.

If A&E really ditch this show they really do not deserve to continue!
I am a native Wyomingite and live not far from the Author’s home town of Ucross, WY. – Just a very small town with a very talented writer. Needless to say it was very refreshing to finally have a true to life western that was also a family type show, rather than all the garbage that is shown on the air today – reality TV is anything but and in this day and age we need something that is down to earth with real values, honesty, intrigue, and great acting. I hope that somewhere out there an enterprising network will… Read more »
I enjoy(ed) the Longmire show. We were really just getting to know Walt. At least if they are “shopping it around” it has a chance. Community got saved (at least for 1 more season by Yahoo TV. Perhaps AMAZON which is Netflixing it’s muscle with some of it’s own content could add this to it’s portfolio.
