ABC has done very well with their political drama, Scandal. Will Madam Secretary be a similar ratings hit for CBS? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Madam Secretary, former CIA analyst Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni) returns to public life after being recruited by the President (Keith Carradine) to become the new Secretary of State. The rest of the cast includes Željko Ivanek, Bebe Neuwirth, Geoffrey Arend, Patina Miller, Erich Bergen, Tim Daly, Katherine Herzer, and Evan Roe.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/12 update: Madam Secretary and two other shows have been renewed for a second season by CBS.
Final season averages: 1.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.82 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a couple weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season two?
I love both shows. Please do not cancelled them
Love this drama, a show I can actually view with my children and not be embarrassed by the vulgarity of the script. The political content gives me an opportunity to discuss worldviews with my children and attitudes towards women. Intelligent current events with a sprinkle of family life that projects decency.
Love the time slot!
As a conservative,A group that are not well represent on TV and when we are we are not represented well, I was worried about this show.I have been more than pleasantly surprised.
This is the best drama in quite some time.I did not know Hollywood still had it in them to make a show that demonstrated good values. It intelligently handles complex moral situations. If the writers are trying to grind a political ax I sure can’t tell.
Yes definitely renew but how can you get ratings when the show is never on….
YES! RENEW THIS VERY INTELLIGENT, WELL-WRITTEN SHOW
Should there be any doubt that Madam Secretary be renewed? It ‘s the best hour on tv of the entire week.
In my opinion, this is the best political series since West Wing. What I have found lacking is the network advertisement. What I have found annoying has been the pre-empting of the Madam Sect and The Good Wife series for sports programs. It didn’t take long to recognize that a minimal number of episodes had been filmed (obviously a network decision to simply test the water w/ minimal investment). I am disappointed that I have but one TV listing per evening that I find interesting, thus, my disgust w/ TV in general has been reinforced. It is sad that corporate… Read more »
PLEASE, don’t cancel Madam Secretary. It’s clearly one of the best shows on TV. For us
it ranks right up there with Blue Blood !! We love this show and miss it big time!
YES ~ RENEW
this is one of the few shows that i watch, not painstakingly fake like some others (state of affairs) that are unwatchable
Love this show! The only problem has been that the show has had so many breaks due to sports! Please continue!
PLEASE renew this smart and wonderful show. My whole family loves it.
YES!! Renew this program! It’s smart and well written, and doesn’t make me feel pandered to. A miracle in today’s programming!
