Magnum PI has been cancelled for a second time, and members of the cast and writers for the NBC drama are speaking out.
The network saved the series and produced one more season of 20 episodes following its cancellation by CBS last year. The fifth season is being split across two broadcast years and the final 10 episodes are expected to air in early 2024.
Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Amy Hill, and Tim Kang star in the reboot of the popular 1980s series, which follows Thomas Magnum and his team investigating crimes in Hawaii.
Members of the cast and the writers shared their thoughts about NBC canceling Magnum PI on social media.

What do you think? Will you be sad to see Magnum PI come to a close? Were you hoping for a sixth season of the series on NBC?
Constructive criticism I cannot find to express my deep sadness of not having Magnum PI and the entire cast to look forward to watch in my waning years! 🙁
Not a bad show, so of course CBS cancelled; now the mentally challenged “suits” at NBC followed suit! These are the reasons why I stream/watch TV from foreign countries. Far superior.
Extremely sad they canceled it. They didn’t give it a chance to adjust to the network change. They should definitely reconsider this terrible decision.
Sorry but it was a bad show and should have stayed canceled..See Ya!
I AM REALLY ANGRY WITH NBC. I AM SICK OF THESE STATIONS CANCELLING GOOD WHOLESOME SHOWS AND KEEPING CRAP ON.
I agree with you. they show cancel the bad shows and keep the good ones.
Another good show leaving..to be replaced by Junk
Very disappointed! Can’t understand why this happens to a lot of great shows. Will miss!
Please have a change of hearth and renew the series’s
getting tired of certain cancelations , first on CBS , then NBC ..Hope ION picks it up maybe another station
Angry at NBC to tease us with only one additional season! It was good for the cast, which I love, but mean to viewers. Why do networks always cancel beloved, fantastic shows. So, so disappointing. Best of luck to all Magnum PI cast and crew! Hope to see you again soon.
Extremely sorry and upset. Magnum is a great show. It should go to streaming, like just about everything else. Seems to be the future, especially if the networks keep getting rid of good shows that the viewers like. Keep it no more game or reality shows.
I’m so happy it’s cancelled. Yipeeee!
I understand it’s a ratings game. And credit to NBC. Every time I tuned to NBC, I saw ads for Magnum very frequently. I am surprised the ratings on NBC were down compared to the last season on CBS.
I think times and tastes are changing. What the typical Magnum fan enjoys is not what the target demo watches these days. I guess this almost 50 yr old is starting to feel old.
I am one of the people who voted to bring the show back and was hoping for a longer time wish it would be picked up at paramount plus to keep the ride going on
So sad to see Magnum PI come to an end!! One of my very favorite shows!! I always felt so good after watching the episodes because of the rapport and loyal commitment the characters had with each other… I will truly miss seeing everyone!!
Very well stated.
Please don’t cancel Magnum PI
Sorry to see Magnum PI being cancelled for a second time. TV writers beware. The networks want to replace you with insipid reality shows.
Yet one more reason why I refuse to watch reality shows.
