We have the first TV show cancellation of the 2014-15 season and Manhattan Love Story is the “winner” of the title. ABC has cancelled the new sitcom after four episodes.
Manhattan Love Story follows the members of an extended family from New York City as they navigate the pitfalls of their various relationships. Fortunately, only the audience is privy to their inner thoughts. The castmembers include Analeigh Tipton, Jake McDorman, Nicolas Wright, Jade Catta-Preta, Chloe Wepper, and Kurt Fuller.
The sitcom debuted on September 30th to a mediocre 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.7 million viewers. It wasn’t a very good start but the sitcom had no stars, little lead-in support, and was airing opposite two of the top-rated shows on television — The Voice and NCIS.

Unfortunately, the competition got even tougher in later weeks — and the ratings showed it. Love Story lost 40% of its audience in the demo in week two, held steady in week three and then dropped another 22% this week, falling to an unacceptable 0.7 in the demo and 3.3 million viewers.
Last week, ABC ordered some additional scripts for both Love Story and Selfie, an indication that they were’s ready to throw in the towel just yet. It seems that this week’s ratings were just too low.
The network has pulled the series from the schedule, effective immediately. Next week, a Halloween special will fill the 8pm hour. After that, pairs of episodes of companion series Selfie will fill the hour. That series isn’t doing much better and is almost sure to be cancelled as well.
ABC had ordered 13 episodes of Manhattan Love Story. It’s unclear how many were actually produced or if/when the network will release those that have been shot.

It was my favorite show. It always left me with a happy feeling. Really hope another network catches on to the fan base of this show. I thought we would at least see half a season of it. I’m a little heartbroken today. 🙁
I liked it!! ABC you suck when it comes to canceling shows, just like Black Box, it should still be on. Cancel A to Z not this!!!! Very disappointed..AGAIN!!!!!
Yes, I would like to see all the episodes they already have, it’s better than nothing. Maybe they can burn them off on a Saturday night, I’ll set the DVR regardless. This was a cute show, not spectacular (yet) but fresh and mostly sweet. Who hasn’t had those kind of thoughts in their head during a relationship? The major networks have no loyalty to shows. That’s why you are only finding rare nominations for their shows when the Emmys roll around. This show had real promise.
MLS was a pretty good romantic-comedy series. Analeigh Tipton was perfection! So sad to hear that it got cancelled. I feel like it has a got a lot of potential. Wished ABC gave it another chance.
Manhattan Love Story is a TOTAL HIT – do not cancel. This show blows Selfe out of the water!!!!!!

I would love to see HBO pick this up. This was quality writing and acting. A network like HBO would get it to the right audience.

I can’t understand why it didn’t work! This series was so sweet and cute, and delightful! I’m French and I can say that in France, this show would have had its chance, because it was very uncommon and fresh in fact. And Jake McDorman and Analeigh Tiptop were just perfect! I really like their series couple, their story was so different, compared to all the other couples from tv! I’m sad, knowing that if they were broadcasting this series in France, it could have a huge success and the show could go on…
It’s a shame that Manhattan Love Story was canceled. Seems like the network didn’t even give it a chance. I saw very little promos for the show but found it anyway & was starting to get into it. The characters chemistry seemed to be connecting and it’s a shame to see it go. They should have tried to move it to another night. I love Manhattan Love Story. I am so sad that it has been cancelled. It was pretty cool and funny, I really enjoy watching it!!!
I wish they didn’t canceled Manhattan love story and I was going to find out about the shows.
If abc only prompted this tv show it probably would have better ratings. Very upset this is actually the only tv show I liked this year. Im getting sick of the weds night shows its getting really boring abc. I guess I’ll just stick with Big Bang theory and the tv shows on cbs
I am actually really bummed. I liked this show. I never get into shows because I am always nervous they will get canceled. Ugh. Just bummed.

Well at least they almost had sex in last weeks episode – the girl is so cute was really why I watched it (it was more like back ground like when I watch football on Sundays for the most part) – I’d bet that Selfie will be next on the block – she’s cute too – that’s showbiz!
Dumb!! I can’t believe they would cancel this show!!!! You would think abc would test other nights for this show to be on before the would cancel a show, maybe they would have better ratings. This show has to be one of the better shows in a long time. I actually like this show better than Modern Family. I hoping another station pick this show up and it’s a big hit for them.
