We have the first TV show cancellation of the 2014-15 season and Manhattan Love Story is the “winner” of the title. ABC has cancelled the new sitcom after four episodes.
Manhattan Love Story follows the members of an extended family from New York City as they navigate the pitfalls of their various relationships. Fortunately, only the audience is privy to their inner thoughts. The castmembers include Analeigh Tipton, Jake McDorman, Nicolas Wright, Jade Catta-Preta, Chloe Wepper, and Kurt Fuller.
The sitcom debuted on September 30th to a mediocre 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.7 million viewers. It wasn’t a very good start but the sitcom had no stars, little lead-in support, and was airing opposite two of the top-rated shows on television — The Voice and NCIS.

Unfortunately, the competition got even tougher in later weeks — and the ratings showed it. Love Story lost 40% of its audience in the demo in week two, held steady in week three and then dropped another 22% this week, falling to an unacceptable 0.7 in the demo and 3.3 million viewers.
Last week, ABC ordered some additional scripts for both Love Story and Selfie, an indication that they were’s ready to throw in the towel just yet. It seems that this week’s ratings were just too low.
The network has pulled the series from the schedule, effective immediately. Next week, a Halloween special will fill the 8pm hour. After that, pairs of episodes of companion series Selfie will fill the hour. That series isn’t doing much better and is almost sure to be cancelled as well.
ABC had ordered 13 episodes of Manhattan Love Story. It’s unclear how many were actually produced or if/when the network will release those that have been shot.

I’m SOOO sad that this was cancelled- this was the only show I stumbled upon this season- it didn’t get shoved down our throats… It was clever & fun and the only show that consistently makes me laugh out loud. Sad story. Please make the remaining episodes available.
All cancelled shows should be required to release remaining shows and at least a script for a finale. Too many shows end with no closure.

Oh come on!! They didn’t even give them a chance! And they were so cute together… 🙁 I mean, to be honest I knew they would cancel it but after four episodes?! That’s not ok! They should at least air the episodes they already produced!
So upset that they canceled this show, it was my favorite new program of the season. Sincerely hope they put it back on the air soon. It’s uplifting and refreshening I really want to see it back on the air. Great cast of characters too!
SERIOUSLY!!! First Friends With Benefits, NOW MANHATTAN LOVE STORY!!! I actually love this show. It pisses me off how these shows can’t stay on the air!! Not everyone wants blood, guts, and crappy shows!! Please bring it back!!
NO No No!!! It was the only show that I really looked forward to watching! I was wishing it was an hour, instead of a half hour program. Maybe if it aired another night with less competition where it could gain a larger audience?
I am devastated that it was cancelled. I adored it! Tipton is oh so cute in the show!!! Would love to see her in future shows/movies/etc. I hope the network will release the remaining episodes so I can watch it. I hate that I was left hanging.
It’s unfortunate that the show was cancelled. I really enjoyed the show, it had a light and airy theme to it. Never really enjoyed shows like The Voice, would much rather watch Manhattan Love Story.
Such a bummer! I love both of these shows. How is it that so much crap-t.v. stays on for years and sweet, innocent, funny shows like this get hacked? No fair!
I truly enjoyed the show. It was off to a slow start, so during the very first episode I called that this one would not make it. Not because it was a bad program, because it was actually one of the better shows on tv, but because only the potential “Friends” or “Growing Pains” or even “Cosby Show” type programs, that have the best chance of making the networks the most money seem to get canceled before they have even a remote chance to gain a proper audience.
This is really sad news. I loved Manhattan Love Story, and I really hope it gets picked up by another network. It was sweet, quick-witted and charming without trying too hard or being over the top. Fingers crossed this gets picked up!

What?! I don’t consistently watch any tv programs but got hooked on Selfie and Manhattan Love Story. I stumbled across this article because I had to google why they’re not on tonight. I LOVED Manhattan Love Story…it was so sweet. I guess it was too cerebral for the average American tv viewer 🙁
THIS IS HORRIBLE NEWS! I loved this show. Cancel Selfie! Selfie is such a horrible horrible show. Bring it back! OMG I AM SO SAD!
