TV show description:
This romantic comedy is based on a simple premise: The only way to maintain relationships (with lovers, spouses, family, co-workers, or friends) is to keep most of our thoughts to ourselves.
Dana (Analeigh Tipton) and Peter (Jake McDorman) are a couple who are navigating the complicated terrain of a modern day relationship. We hear Dana and Peter’s inner thoughts, highlighting the differences of men and women as this couple traverses the highs and lows of dating.
Dana grew up in a small town with her sights set on New York. She romanticized about life in the big city and her polite, sweet nature is often misinterpreted as naiveté. However, she’s a smart girl who’s generally one step ahead of those who dismiss her.
Peter, on the other hand, grew up in New York and feels that he has seen and done everything the city has to offer. While Dana is determined to succeed in New York in both business and love, Peter is perfectly content to go on dating his way through Manhattan.
Peter’s wealthy sister-in-law and Dana’s college roommate, is Amy (Jade Catta-Preta) — a dilettante in the sense that she has a thousand different passions, and unique because she masters each of them.
Dana’s husband, David (Nicolas Wright), is Peter’s brother. He loves his wife and money. David is more than happy to let Amy take the reins of his life because, after all, she’s doing a better job of running it than he ever would.
Chloe (Chloe Wepper) is Peter and David’s half-sister from their father’s third marriage. Like David, Chloe is not afraid to say what she thinks. Unlike David, what she has to say is actually perceptive and intelligent.
William (Kurt Fuller), the kids’ father, is incapable of understanding that he’s wrong about anything. He loves being the authority figure, and since all of his children work for him, he’s never had one moment in his adult life when they haven’t had to do what he has wanted.
Episode #11 — Let It Go
When Dana’s ex-boyfriend shows up in New York to win her back, Peter does everything he can to show Dana how much he cares, even letting her go if that’s what it takes. David helps Chloe get out of her dating slump by showing her how to use the Cooper family secret dating trophy.
First aired: December 6, 2014 (online).
What do you think? Do you like the Manhattan Love Story TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or given more time and renewed for a second season?
I knew if I started getting involved with Manhattan Love Story it would be cancelled in less than 5 episodes. What ever happened to the networks when they gave a show literally 13 episodes before canceling it. It all started in the 80s with a series that started Pamela Bellwood on NBC called W.E.B…..it was cancelled in 3 episodes, it was the show that started it all. Never did anyone here of a show being cancelled so quickly. Then CBS has a show called CO-ED Fever, which aired right after the Super Bowl many years ago and was cancelled in… Read more »
I loved the show too! Characters are halarious.
I don’t even watch ABC. NBC etc. Ever. The only reason I started to watch regular channels was because of this show.
So no reason to tune in. I agree with one comment. Hollywood doesn’t listen.
Disappointed.
An absolutely wonderful show. Great cast. Great story line. Please keep it on. I look forward to it each week. With Selfie it is the perfect hour of entertainment.
It actually had me looking forward to watching tv! I hadn’t watched a show on that channel at primetime for a very long time. I finally do and they cancel it. Thanks for nothing! I instantly clicked with Manhattan Love Story. I am so disgusted it was cancelled!! 🙁
I loved this show and will be VERY disappointed if it’s cancelled!!!
REALLY disappointed that this show got cancelled, any real, intelligent, heart-warming show usually does. Not every one is looking for an intense drama, mystery, or horror series; just to name a few “over done” tv series. Sometimes it’s just nice to have a show like Manhattan Love Story to enjoy once a week. The characters were quirky, fun, smart, and styled well. As 30 something’s , this show was right up my husband and I’s alley. It’s a shame that NBC didn’t even give this show the time to develop its viewer following.
Of course it was cancelled. It was the best new sitcom on tv.
I thought this show was better then Selfie it lead in I hope they reconsider
This show was funny and awkward and sweet.
It was easy and enjoyable to watch.
The characters and storylines all had potential to develop.
Not every show needs to be over the top dramatic.
This could have become a great must-see show.
It was one of few feel good shows on…don’t want to watch non-stop dramas. It had potential, they should have let the show develop.
Cancelling is a big mistake. One of the few new shows I actually like. Guess I’ll have to read more…
I like to see shows that are light and optimistic. I think the public likes these shows, but Hollywood doesn’t seem to hear the public.
I really liked the series and each episode was better. To pull the trigger so soon is kind of stupid. They put it on against some tough shows, to not even give the show a chance is ill considered.
i love it.
I love the series.it gets better each time. Please don’t cancel it.
