TV show description:
A period drama, this show is set in 1943 in the secret town of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Hidden away by the federal government, scientists live there with their families while they work to build the world’s first atomic bomb.
Frank Winter (John Benjamin Hickey) is the lead scientist on the Manhattan Project and is brilliant, kinetic, and self-destructive. He’s a man who believes that scientific work is what matters most.
If it weren’t for his wife, botanist Liza Winter (Olivia Williams), he would have become a recluse years ago. Now that military secrecy has severed the lifeline of communication with Liza, Frank is a man who is very much alone.
Cut off from her husband, Liza is snubbed by the housewives (who think of her as a scientist) and shunned by the scientists (who think of her as a wife). Callie (Alexia Fast) is their rebellious teenage daughter who’s become frustrated with small town life.
The newest member of the team is Charlie Isaacs (Ashley Zukerman), a young man who’s know for both his love of numbers and his conscience. He distinguished himself as one of the rarest talents that the physics department at Harvard had ever seen. While in college, he also fell in love and married a Jewish girl named Abby (Rachel Brosnahan). She’s now a housewife and the pair share few interests other than their young son and Abby finds it difficult to fit in with her new community.
Frank Winter’s former mentor is Glen Babbit (Daniel Stern) and it seems like he’s always helped keep Frank out of trouble. It was Babbit who asked Frank to join a secret military project in the New Mexico desert.
Other scientists include Helen Prins (Katja Herbers), Jim Meeks (Christopher Denham), Paul Crosley (Harry Lloyd), Louis “Fritz” Fedowitz (Michael Chernus), and Sid Liao (Eddie Shin).

What do you think? Do you like the Manhattan TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Really enjoy the show and hope it continues, it may be a little over the top on melodrama but it keeps the program interesting. It may be nostalgic to think there was little sexual hanky-panky in the 40’s but it was going on just the same!
I’ve really enjoyed Manhatten. Please continue the series. However,I hope that they can still tell this interesting story w/o getting any more explicit than they have been already or even tone things down a little. I have a pretty good imagination. I was happier, in the old days when sexual content was left to the imagination. As you can tell by my first name. ( most women with that name are 50 +) I grew up in the era when you knew what was going on with a couple but the lights faded before you saw much. I would like… Read more »
I do not like the sexual stuff. It would not have been appropriate to be so open in that time. Rest is good.
Well, there was more sexual “stuff” back in the day then our culture likes to admit. The Kinsey reports showed that 50% of women ( self reported) were not virgins when they married. And bi sexual women and men were around as well.
Manhattan is a phenomenal show. Why would anyone in their right mind want to cancel such a compelling show?
I think it’s riveting. It’s highly accurate insofar as time, location and emotions are concerned. Sure, the storyline is fictional but the aura of fact persists and keeps the viewer fascinated. Please, please do renew.
Outstanding show; please renew.
Best show on tv.
I love this show. Please keep it on. Love the history and science stuff.
Renew it shows the past what people was going on about what happened not many like this now adays
Absolutely love this show. I too look forward to Sunday evenings. It’s intensity mixed with science and humor and all the human frailties makes it engrossing to watch–Hate those commercial breaks. Please renew for another season or five or six!
This is the best summer show on T.V. please return it, I think it is brilliant, only high point of sunday night….
Yes renew! What drama! and science!
I LOVE THIS SHOW. I can’t believe how much I love it. – I didn’t expect to but I look forward to every Sunday night and dread the commercial breaks. Its smart and intense. Please renew!
Does anyone know if the show will be renewed? It deserves it. I thought it would be too dry–with a LOT of science talk. But surprise– it is about people and their lives–fascinating. And I’m learning just a bit about the scientific world –and it turns out to be interesting. Especially the World II world. The twists and turns are engaging and never expected.
LOVE this show, it definitely should be renewed for another season!
Great show! Worth watching. Grabs your attention. Far better than the standard reality and stupid comedy shows (which I refuse to watch) that gobble up all the prime time hours.
