At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!! I just watched the whole season on Netflix and LOVED it!!!!
I can’t believe that you would cancel a show this good. Every time that a good show comes out, either you guys mess it up by cheating the plot in the season finale like you did with Lost or you take it off the air. Please, take a look at how many viewings there are on Hulu and how many comments you’re getting here and elsewhere. At least make a movie or 2-hour episode to tie things up!
OMG!!!!! i still can’t believe its gone. yall completly suck. you finally put a good show on and them you cancel it leaving us hanging no less. you could have at least had a finale. i mean really. im watching season 1 over and over. PLEASE!!!!!!!! bring the show back !!
i was starting to love this show. now knowing it cancelled totally sucks. BRING IT BACK!!!! PLZ or atleast write it into a book i dont mind reading lol.
i really wish yall would bring it back im watching season one over and over again i really love this show and i was very dissapointed that there was no season two……….BRING IT BACK
I would really like this show back that is BS to have a finale like they did in episode 22 and not show what happens afterwards. SO BRING IT BACK!!!!!
I want mercy to come back! It’s one of my favorite medical shows right behind grey’s anatomy. The show was funny and fun to watch, I fell in love with the story and grow to care about the charters, so I’m so upset to hear it’s been canceled!
You must bring mercy back. I’m a nurse and this is the only show like thou can relate too.
I Loved it!!!
i want season two!!!!!! im totally hooked on this show!
I’m terribly disappointed there is no 2nd season. I just finished watching the 1st season and couldn’t wait to see the 2nd. What a shame – it’s a great series!!!
I LOVED THIS SHOW! Bring it back! PLEASE! I can not believe you would end the show like that. I am so mad. Did both the men in her life die? ( chris and mike). What happens? This show was so addicting. I swear, all the good show are being cancelled. Trauma was another one I loved. Get your heads out of your asses and bring back the good shows.
I didn’t love it at first, but it totally grew on me. I am 56 and really liked it!! I think it was just getting interesting with Taylor Shilling’s character being involved in the shooting in the convenience store. I wanted to see what was going to happen with her dad, and how THAT would affect her. Plus, I love Kate Mulgrew. You were wrong on this one. Why is it that the stupid people always get their shows?? Like “Dancing with the F***ing Stars”?? Not fair.
BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!
I loved this show. I wish they would bring it back. It is like reading half of a book and not finishing it! Totally stinks they cancelled it!
