At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

I was down right mad about Mercy getting canceled .I really loved this show its just like the Black Donelleys , a show i really could get into and a killer finally and then nothing ugh!
I am so upset to see that this show was cancelled!!!! I LOVED LOVED LOVED the show! And the season finale left so many unanswered questions! I really wish another network would pick the show up. I am very unhappy with the network for cancelling this…
the show Mercy is an awesome show. I didn’t miss any episodes, but I think what ruined the rates was it not being on every week in a row! have an episode then wait 2 or 3 weeks have another episode then have to wait again so I think that made people not stick with it because maybe they forgot what week is was going to be on.
I love Mercy I have to see if Chloe gets together. You can’t just send it off with everyone possibly dying. I love that show I just got into it and now its over. SAVE MERCY
My husband and I are really disappointed that Mercy was canceled. We consider ourselves discriminating viewers, and enjoyed the characters’ personalities, story lines, and acting. We cared about the characters. This was one of the shows we looked forward to. For us, it was in the company of NCIS, The Good Wife, Fringe and 24, all of which brings (brought) us great pleasure. How about reconsidering this one; please bring it back!
Mercy is such a good show. So many people can relate to all the things that go on in it. Its not just a medical show it is real life things that happen all the time. PLEASE SAVE MERCY!!!!! Its the best show they have ever had.
well Bummer and Bummer — I just got caught up with the last three epis — and now I learn there is to be no resolution !
Talk about Bad Decision Making !! But then — what can I expect — it is NBC…..
That said I will thank NBC for Parenthood —– the one show they’ve got going for them.
(and of course the ever popular Law & Orders —- altho — not at the top of my list….)
Mercy and Trauma are shows NBc needs to support, develop and promote.
It was my favorite new show!! Of course powerful women aren’t going to be popular with a biggoted channel like NBC. I should have known better than to watch anything on that channel. They have a history of hanging on way to long to shows that have long since played themselves out like ER and dumping shows that had some original characters like Veronica. NBC is a waste of time!!!!!
Mercy, is one of the few shows worth watching NBC has to offer. Keep it on.
Really sad that Mercy was cancelled. Especially due to how it ended. If another network picks it up I will def follow! I’m so sick of the networks and their love for stupid reality shows.
I am so sad that Mercy has been cancelled. One of the few shows that I look forward to watching. Wrong move NBC. That was one of the ony shows left worth turning ABC off for. And to let it end the way it did with us all hanging.UGH!! A true loss. Maybe another network can pick it up.
No loss with Trauma. Bad acting.
GUYS, LET’S SEND A FEEDACK TO NBC, LET’S SAVE MERCY, IS THE BEST MEDICAL DRAMA !
I wish another network would take the show because it was one of my favorites!
The problem is NBC, if they would have done more promoting of the show it probably would have lasted. The show is great and easily relatable.
Save Mercy!
I barely watch the non-cable networks due the fact that well-written shows don’t last. Reality shows aren’t worth watching so I watch the adult dramas on TNT and USA. Mercy and Trauma were well-developed, had interesting characters so, of course, the network that can’t shoot straight cans them.
