The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.

Can someone please tell me how they do the ratings. Neither I nor anyone I have ever know have been polled as to whether they like a show or not. And lately they keep cancelling the good shows. Are they possibly asking the wrong people? Maybe they should invest in some current technology to record true viewership? So many times I get into a good series and everyone I speak to likes it, only to hear it get taken off the air because of low viewership. I really can’t believe that this show is being cancelled. My husband and I missed the pilot but when our daughter told us how great it was, we taped the rest of them and just after we got to the 4th one, she told us that it was being cancelled…We contemplated not watching them anymore (why get involved in something that’s going away?), but we were already hooked!!! Just couldn’t stop watching…It’s like reading a good book and being dissappointed that you were coming to the end…WE LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! Can’t believe they never had a chance to get a following. No wonder no one wants to invest time into the new programs, you finally find something you like and they take it all away after a short run. CBS is making another big mistake with cancelled MIAMI MEDICAL— the cast is awesome and all work well together…… big mistake….. and what have they learned from this latest mistake? NOTHING AS FAR AS I CAN SEE.
My husband and I love Miami Medical and I’ve just read it was cancelled. ER would have been cancelled too, had times been tighter. Some shows need time and this excellent show should be allowed to stick around and find it’s audience like ER and others have done in the past. So sorry to hear it was cancelled and hope they change their short-sighted minds.

I can’t believe that Miami Medical has been cancelled, that was the best show, I hope that another network picks it up.
I love Miami Medical!!! It was fast becoming one of my favorite shows. It was very disappointing to hear that it wasn’t coming back. I think it would make a great show for the summer. Something to think about!!!
Is there anyone with a brain at CBS?!?!? They have cancelled 4!! Count ’em 4 of my fave shows: 1) Moonlight, 2) Ghost Whisperer, 3) Numb3rs, 4) Miami Medical (got hooked after the pilot). I’ll even go back to “Jericho”

Atrocious move to remove this series from airtime, what is this corporation doing ?? Good shows continue to be casualties meanwhile lame reality shows, not all are offensive but a good many are indeed, continue to invade our screens, stay with the good ones, GIVE THEM PROPER TIME, where do these ratings come from? Who is doing the judging? By far, no one in my household has ever been included in surveys. SO, return a good show which MIAMI MEDICAL truly is !!

This was by far one of my most favorite shows. Even if they cancelled it they should still sell season one in its entirety. I’m sure someone would buy it. I know I would. 😛
I couldn’t believe it when I heard Miami Medical was canceled. It was well written and had great characters, although it was a tad predictable and unrealistic at times. I was equally upset about Mercy and Trauma being canceled (slight less so for Trauma). It’s really getting so that I’m hesitant to get involved with new shows, and I am truely disgusted with the reality crapola that is on now.
I’m not a big CBS shows fan (well, except for NCIS and The Mentalist) and this has turned me off more. WAKE UP CBS!
I am a huge TV lover with 2 DVRs and I have never been approached to rate a show. Miami Medical is one of the best shows on television. I am so tired of the stupid sitcoms and reality shows.
Miami Medical is a very good show. It seems that CBS and other stations cancel shows
too soon and don’t give them a chance. Wise up people, there are many people who would
love to see this show continue……how about it?
Honestly Miami Medical is a good show. I don’t know why they canceled it. I was really expecting a Season 2.
