The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

For those of you that do NOT know, this Friday’s episode of Miami Medical will be the last if CBS doesn’t renew. CBS really need to take another look at this show and look and read each comment and this way you will see just how much viewers love this show. The 1.3 million that watched it this season has told others about Miami Medical, so, all CBS has to do is move the show do a different night. Miami Medical can make because it’s the next ER which I’ve watched since it was on the air until the cancellation.… Read more »
CBS Exec’s are idiots, but go figure its part of Viacom. I’ve riden the elevators with the Exec’s their idiots. They dont even know what floor they work on. If your not a flaming HOMO you get fired. Miami Medical is better than HOUSE Fox 5 in case you smucks dont know. Its the best drama you’ve ever had. Your marketing sucks. And you suck. I will never watch CBS again. Or anything else Viacom related.
If they counted all the online viewings they’d see how popular their show really is. I knew it would be cancelled from the moment i saw it. I honestly love the show but the majority of North America needs stupid love story plots to keep them entertained. They’re not looking for blood and guts.
How come they bring other shows back or give them another chance but not this one? Maybe one of the other networks, such as Fox, or WB, would pick it up. I have to agree that we knew from the first show we watched that it would be cancelled – because it was good, not a reality show, and we liked it! It seems they take the good shows off! And leave the crappy reality or no substance shows on….
The only reason the show is being cancelled is because of the friday night slot. If they counted all the online viewings they’d see how popular their show really is. I knew it would be cancelled from the moment i saw it. I honestly love the show but the majority of North America needs stupid love story plots to keep them entertained. They’re not looking for blood and guts.
I think I had seen all the Law and Order shows and all the shows in its SUV and CI forms and so Miami Medical has been the ONLY program I’ve watched this spring. Miami Medical plots were thin, but the cast was very strongh and it helped me unwind after a work week.
I think the “Got Talent,” “Survivor,” “Can Dance,” etcshows are an insult to anyone of even my small intelligence.
So, now I can discontinue my cable service and donate my TV to charity. I guess I’ll be a bit richer for the demise of Miami Medical!
i love miami medical mercy three rivers i cant wait for them to come on i dont no why they keep on cancelling all the good shows and putting sh== shows on maybe if we all go to animal planet they will stop cancelling all the good ones
I wish they would reconsider; I think would do quite well given the chance.
i would like to see a season 2 of the show so would a lot of other fans
Dear CBS:
You have a fantastic show that would become a great success if you advertised it and gave it a better day & time slot.
Can’t believe they are cancelling this show! Maybe the numbers are down because it was a late replacement or maybe because the viewership that all stations seem to covet is the 19-29 year olds (who are out on Friday nites)! What about older 45 plus viewers whose children are grown and who don’t normally go out on Friday nites? My husband and I really enjoyed this show…the characters, the setting, the plot lines! Who wants another reality show? Maybe CBS should give Miami Medical a real chance….I just watched the first episode of Rookie Blue on ABC and I can’t… Read more »
I started watching Miami Medical a month or so ago I don’t know why they are canceling it. What are they going to put in it’s place another reality show because we don’t have enough of those annoying shows on the air already.
I am saddened and dismayed that Miami Medical is going…. I was so happy to have a good drama on TV and now you’ve messed up and pulled it.
This was one of the best medical shows since ER….I liked this one because it wasn’t a “he slept with her but she’s sleeping with him, so I’ll sleep with both” kind of show. “Greys'” used to be good until it became a “*****” show just like “Mercy” started to become….I Liked “Trauma” real well because it had more action. These networks are canceling great shows before they can build an audience. I like the rest of you am so tired of all these reality shows…The networks like them because they don’t have to pay anyone. I guess the networks… Read more »
No wonder CBS, NBC and ABC lose to Fox and other cable channels. They cancel shows without regard to the demographics of people who watch and support their advertisers, without which there would be no TV. Miami Medical is one of the best shows since Marcus Welby MD.
Give good shows enough time to establish themselves, and what are the demographics (age groups) they are trying to reach? In todays world, appease the appetites of those who have enough money to support the advertisers who pay for these programs.
When has producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Warner Bros. Television made a mistake in being a part of making of a show? NEVER! CBS you’re making a mistake of canceling this show. Give it another season and promote and move it to the summer line up. DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW! DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW! DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!
