The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.

Big mistake cancelling Miami Medical. I think it was one of the smartest shows on TV. It didn’t stand a chance being aired with Ghost Whisperer and Numbers because they were on their way out. I think it would have been great to air the show along side CSI: Miami. Could have had a big hit CBS if you had promoted it more.
Oh hell no!!!! Thats wat i say. I really, really loved this show it was so good that when i had to work friday nights till 10pm i left it recording. I seriously suggest the show go back on air please i loved that show.
CBS do not know how to entertain people and most of all i like medical shows.. now i have to divert to Grey Anatnomy to have my medical fix! CBS is selfish in regards to moving CSI: Miami cuz of stupid football shows which can move shows by 15 min to 30 min and i can’t copy off DVD. I don’t know what they are thinking!
I don’t think that people didnt like the show i think people just didnt watch the show. There wasnt’ any big promotion of it. It’s no Numb3ers but it is good non the less, more families should have Nielson’s in their homes.

I love Miami Medical. I think CBS really needs to rethink cancelling it. Starting off a new show in April and on a Friday night is a bad call. I think they should try another night durring September.
I’m sooooo mad. I was really hoping there would be more seasons….. You know, just because MOST people don’t like a show, DOES NOT MEAN THAT NOBODY LIKES THE SHOW. And for some it is only because of show times overlapping that they must watch the shows during reruns. I hate Days of Our Lives (they aired ???? Seasons???) But sometimes it takes a few more episodes for people to really get into it. I didn’t like the first few episodes of Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis….. NOW I OWN ALL THE SEASONS FOR BOTH ON DVD SETS……. Very sad to see this one cancelled. The actors and characters were great. Not the normal boring medical show. Great story lines as well. Not sure where you get your numbers but your not polling America on this one.
Totally agree with you. I leave my cable box on certain super fav shows just incase that is how they get their popularity rating counts. I tune in to my fav. shows whether or not I’m watching that rerun. So disappointing…. this show was special, and yeah, great story line…. and it was more medical, less sci-fi, and action action action.

Another season of Miami Medical can’t hurt. I am really going to miss this show and wish you would bring it back for one more go around just to see what happens.

Yeah, you know where we can all write to CBS??? I’d tell them that new management is needed. Ghost Whisperer was ok (only cuz I didn’t have the time in my Super Packed Schedual of shows that I was already watching, had to settle for reruns during off periods for my main shows) but I heard it was really good. At this rate, I’m not going to start watching new stuff until they hit season 2.
