The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

Unbelievable!! I’ve been checking to see when the new season started…no idea it was canceled. Shame on you CBS! I also just found out you also canceled The New Adventures of Old Christine and Accidentally On Purpose. Ugh! Considering how long you kept Numbers and Ghost Whisperer struggling on the air, couldn’t you have given these shows, especially Miami Medical, another season? I’d think that NCIS and CSI are running out of acronyms and US cities. From what I’ve seen, MM’s ratings and viewers were increasing every week. I turned family members in 3 different states onto it. Please, please,… Read more »
I loved this show, and I’m not the only fan, look at the polls 94% want it brought back! Come on you need to bring this back for the fans! We needed a show like this, so listen to your fans and bring this one back!! Thank you!
I was eagerly waiting for Season 2, only to just now find out there will be no Season 2. I am truly disappointed. Enough to make this my first comment ever written. This was the only medical show that my husband and I watched as it seemed more real then the others that are nothing but who to went to bed with who. Miami Medical had characters with real problems just like real people. I definitely vote for it’s return.
I’m shocked and need a trauma unit. This was one of the better new shows to air. Unfortunately my wife and I are not home during the shows time slot but thank god for the DVR because it was recorded each week. I looked for it this season and could not find it and was very stocked. My wife said it’s always the shows we like that are cut. All I can say is it’s a shame.
I spend very little time watching series TV shows. This one caught my eye and I quickly became hooked. I have been eagerly awaiting the new season only to find out it has been cancelled!
I love Miami Medical! I started watching this show knowing it had been cancelled, and I still fell in love with it! The unwatched episodes had been piled-up on my DVR (I had recorded, but not seen it yet.) I was going to delete them, but my mom told me it was still worth watching–despite the fact the show was cancelled. She was so right! Once I watched the pilot, I was hooked! This show is amazing…even though the subject matter (trauma) is serious, I always felt “happy” afterwards. This isn’t another depressing medical drama…it’s filled with hope, humor, and… Read more »
I am so pissed that this show was cancelled. I am so sick of shows that I watch being cancelled after season one. It’s not like there is anything good to watch on Friday nights as it is. Well, CBS, I will not watch Tom Selleck now. In fact, the only new show I’m going to watch this year is Hawaii 5-O.
seems this show was never on at the same time week after weeek because either a ballgame, or a golf or tennis match or Amazing race or something always got put before this show. i wrote CBS but they have no regard for our commenst. Maybe when TNT , USA and all the rest put them out of business like Government Motors, they will come back and ask for a bailout>
So true, Stephen! I watch very few shows on the major networks anymore. Most of the good ones are now on USA, TNT, and even the CW (guess I’m a teen at heart). I always wonder where they get the viewership numbers for shows anyway. No one has ever asked me. I don’t have a Nielsen box in my house, nor do I know anyone who does (and I know a lot of people).
It was disappointing not to see Miami Medical in the shows coming back this fall. I assumed, wrongly, that it would be a no brainer as it was quite well written, quick action and characters you could identify with. The only other medical show I ever made sure not to miss was the first 2 years of ER way back when – this show was becoming the second one. Too bad.
I am sad to see that it will not be back. We loved the show and I can name a few different shows that should have been taken off instead of Miami Medical. Maybe one of the other networks will get smart and pick it up. Give it a chance it could be the next ER.
This is LAME…why whenever an actual good show comes on the too rich for their own good network people have to cancel the show…LAME LAME LAME
If you plan on canceling the show then don’t put it on the air or heres a better idea take away lame soaps that are so fake…no ones life is really like that…or take away the stupid reality tv shows….thats not reality…you are paying those people to act like fools…use that money to keep this show on the air!!!!
Why don’t you take a vote from the users b 4 cancelling a show? I loved this show.
CBS sucks a big one. Just when a new concept comes on TV that has a great script, great cast, it gets cancelled!!! My family and even my sister loved the show. When a show is introduced in the Summer they should give it longer before cancelling it, not everyone is around to watch and you need to give us longer to spread the word.
CBS — you have to give a show a chance to catch an audience. I was a regular viewer of both Three Rivers and Miami Medical both of which have been cancelled. Please give viewers a chance to spread the word and start watching a show before you cancel it. You are very unfair CBS
First you cancel Three Rivers…now Miami Medical!!! bad call CBS, bad call….
I still marvel at how network execs and their uncontrolled
greed are so completely disconnected from the general public.
this show was the only medical show watched in our home.well written
well played terrifically filmed with great plots and stories.wake up!!
you had a winner,give it a chance.
I loved Miami medical please keep it going!!!!!! It was so awesome being in the medical field there r all these med shows but out of all of them Miami medical has stoops out to me… Great actors greAt plots!!!’ please bring it back!!!
