Misfits is coming to America. Freeform has announced they are rebooting the British series, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The new series comes from executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who previously developed Gossip Girl.
Created by Howard Overman, the original Misfits series starred Robert Sheehan, Iwan Rheon, Antonia Thomas, Lauren Socha, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett as a group of young adults who develop superpowers after being exposed to an electrical storm. The series ran on E4 from 2009 to 2013.
Few details have been released about the American reboot, but it seems the general plot will be the same.
From Freeform:
A drama based on a hit British series, a group of twentysomethings are exposed to a mysterious chemical and subsequently develop peculiar superpowers. The series is from ABC Signature Studios and executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.”
What do you think? Did you watch the British Misfits? Would you watch the American version?
I would love it but they need to keep it like the british version
Eh, the original kind of flat lined after the first two, maybe three seasons. So I don’t care if they remake it. But it definitely won’t have the same charm as the original in its prime. Especially when it’s on a network that censors its content.
I would definitely watch the American version of Misfits. What can we have next? American version of Primeval? American version of Ashes to Ashes (a spin-off/sequel to Life on Mars)? American version of My Family? American version of Neighbours (as seen on Hulu)? American version of Home and Away (as seen on Hulu)? American version of Hollyoaks (as seen on BBC America and Hulu)?
I agree with Jack. I think the American remake of Misfits is a great idea.
We already had Primeval: New World, which was a Canadian spin-off of the original Primeval. Even had Andrew Lee Potts show up in a few episodes.
I know what Primeval: New World is. I was just saying “What can we have next?”.
Please don’t! Misfits was perfect the way it was, free form is going to ruin it completely.
Derek, you just need to get use to it.
Derek, what have you got against the U.S. remakes/reboots?
Like MTV’s attempt to capitalize on the success of Skins, this is going to fail.
