Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

Please reconsider this cancellation. This is one of the best shows on TV. Excellent acting and well done overall. We look forward to each episode.
My husband and I love that show The Missing was one of the best shows on tv .We are tired of all these vampire movies. Please bring back missing .I have already stopped watching a lot of A.B.C. shows because you took off my soaps . It seems everytime you get a good show you have to cancel it thinking you would get better shows in that time slot. We’ll believe me not bringing back Missing will hurt your rateing .I have watched A.B.C. since i was lil and im 51 now plz keep Missing and bring back our soaps.
Everyone of my acquaintances watched this Thursday night show and loved it. I am disappointed that it was not renewed. There are so many crappy shows on TV that this surprised me that this one did not make it. 8:00 was a perfect time, especially for those who work early in the morning and do not tape show. Please reconsider and at least run one more season on a different day and different time.
I loved that show, it was my favorite. what are they thinking? If it had been on a Fri night a lot more people would have seen it and loved it. Everyone I talked to about it loved it.
LOVE MISSING…… I can’t believe they are canceling this show. I don’t watch many tv shows, but this one had me hooked. The characters were great and I loved the story line.
I agree. ABC has pretty much lost me as a viewer. who does their ratings anyway? Human Target was another show that I absolutely loved. and no the last show of Missing left us hanging. I don’t know what their writers are thinking but they stink.
We loved Missing. No awful language. No graphic violence. No gone too far love screens.
Please don’t cancel Missing. It was one of the best new shows in quite some time. Change the time slot if you need to but please don’t cancel the show.
I don’t think people had a chance to get caught up in missing. I was hooked from the beginning. You should try it one more season starting in September and see if you don’t have more viewers. By March, people were watching other shows and had trouble starting new ones. Bring back Missing!!!!!
I TOO, CANNOT BELIEVE THERE IS NOT ANOTHER SEASON.
THE WEEKLY SHOW WAS VERY EXCITING. ASHLEY IS TERRIFIC, SO ARE THE OTHER ACTORS.
IT WAS THE BEST TV SHOW. WE WATCHED “TOUCH” ON FOX AND WAS BORED, THEY SHOULD CANCEL THAT ONE.
PLEASE RECONSIDER
My husband and I felt it was one of the very best shows on television, and thought Ashley Judd was amazing,
I loved this show!!!! And shame in abc for canceling a great show.. Big mistake ABC!!!
I am so disappointed that ABC canceled Missing! It was such a great show, great cast, and had so much potential for a second season. I figured after two seasons, sure, but…bad, bad move…..it was the only show that has captured my interest in awhile since NBC stupidly decided not to negotiate for Christopher Meloni’s contract for SVU.
How many more great series should we even bother with. I too, am sick of great shows going off. Who does these ratings? Most of the time nothing is on but the reality or cop drama… Missing was a great show, it was my 2nd favorite….after Revenge ..of course!!! Better Not Cancel That!!
They can’t cancel missing it’s a fenomenal show! They’ve been canceling a lot of great series like the river! I swear I will tell everyone to to watch abc because of disappointment in series cancelations! Bring back missing! Why do you get us all excited about a series even leave us hanging, then cancel it? It’s simply just not fair!
