Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

really with a season finale like that you’re gonna canc.el the show… wow ashley judd was unbelievable. I look forward to watching a show every week. I can relate to her I would of done anything to bring my children home please renew the show this is a great disappointment
A classy series. Great actors. Spectacular locations. It was the one program we looked forward to seeing. Maybe a another will see the potential.
Thursday night was my favorite night for TV. I loved watching Missing, Person of Interest and Awake. Now, along with Awake, I hear that Missing has been canceled. It’s obvious the networks are catering to the young generation with all of the ridiculous reality shows. It appears that any show that requires half a brain is being canceled, so all the idiots can watch their silly reality shows. That’s why the world is such a mess!!!
So sad.I really enjoyed watching this show…
We looked forward to Missing each week. Sure some of the story lines were “over the top” ………that is what kept us on the edge of our seats. Ashley Judd is great as Becca.
I hope ABC will reconsider and return Missing. At least a 2 hour special to let us know what happend to Becca and let there be a happy ending…………as we THOUGHT was going to happen before the car rolled and we saw the blood.
A show and a Thursday night lineup I could get excited about – Missing, Grey’s Anatomy, and Scandal. I absolutely detest reality TV, refuse to purchase cable so my choices for programming are limited. Will have to resort to streaming Netflix if I want to see strong female character types. LOVED the cast, the locations, and the storyline. Sad day! I too, hope someone will pick this show up as well.
Really stupid move cancelling Missing….great show…looked forward to watching every week. BRING IT BACK
This show’s action and on site location shoots were amazing! This became my favorite show to watch, even over REVENGE. And I loved the 8:00 p.m. time slot on the west coast, but maybe that had something to do with it’s demise. Maybe the powers that be will realize that some of us do not want to see another Bachelor/Bachelorette or American Ninja reality show. We want to see some good acting, by great actors and actresses. Please try again with Missing! Ashley Judd always delivers and the rest of the cast was stellar as well.
It amazes me that ABC decided to cancel one of the best shows on TV. Missing was by far one of the most interesting and compeling shows to air in such a very long time. I am about to give up on television altogether. The reality craze is so over rated and over played. I suppose that is just an indication that there are very little creative thinkers and writers left.
I’m really disappointed that you have cancelled this show. It was one I looked forward to every Thursday. Bummer!
I really enjoyed watching Missing. It was a smart show with good action. Unfortunately many Americans don’t get into the smart shows where the characters have to be highly intelligent. ABC should have moved it to a different time slot and given it more time before canceling. Missing was up against Vampire Diaries and American Idol results show so of course it didn’t keep the viewers. Vampire Diaries and AM Idol have established a strong fan base which makes it hard for a new show.
Please bring it back!! Love this show
I can’ t believe this show was cancelled. I looked forward every week to watching it! It was exciting, suspenseful, and romantic. The scenery was beautiful! I think it needed more time to catch on. As more people started to watch, they were definitely drawn in. I hope another network picks it up!
I am so upset that you are considering cancelling “Missing” with Ashley Judd. One of the best shows to come along in a long time. One season is not enough for people to get to know a show. Fine acting and Ashley Judd always delivers.
was a great show but once again your pulling it i personally think that the advertizing for the show was very poorly
