Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

Yet another good show cancelled…let’s just keep renewing these mindless reality shows shall we?…oh wait, we have…c’mon, 10 episodes is not enough to make a final judgement…give it more of a chance
One of the most exciting shows that I have ever seen. The suspence from week to week was mind boggling. Cannot believe the show was canceled with so much unanswered questions!.
What in the hell is ABC thinking putting this show up against Greys Anatony? If they would move the time slot it would of had more viewers. Besides Missing rocked, it got better and better each week!
One of the most exciting shows that I have ever seen. Stort line was great! The suspence from week to weel was mind boggling! Very disappointed!
“Missing” was one of my favorite shows of all time. The plots were good, the acting was great, the direction outstanding and best of all the Europian scenery was great! What the heck?? Don’t you think it was worth at least another season?? Especially when one considers what programs are still on. Come on–do a better job of advertising it and give it another chance. I see that I am not alone in really liking this show. (And….it says that seven and a half MILLION people watched it!! Are you getting greedy perhaps?
I hope another network picks this up.
Sorry ABC, you got thins one wrong.
Ashley Jidd was fantastic.
Missing NEEDS to Be BACK!!!!!!!!
What a show I am so sad that it got canceclled I am watching the season one in Hulu…. when looking to see when season two was coming I found out that it got cancelled… That is BS it is a great series !!!!!!!!!!!
What a pity. Good clean T V series that anybody can watch. Very dissappointed.
Missing had some good stuff, but went on much too long — and Becca was just a bit too superhero-ish. It reminded me of The Perils of Pauline — an old movie serial from my childhood; every week there was a new crisis for Pauline to overcome. The son was not so appealing and his little romance was an unnecessary and boring side-story.
It was canceled because nobody watched it. Nobody watched it because it sucked. The plot was absolutely ridiculous and Ashley Judd was horrible – she either cried, or acted all serious and heroic and righteous. Oh, and her face is puffy.
Unbelievable that you canceled Missing. One of the few things ABC had going for it and the only show ABC aired that we scheduled to record weekly. Looks like you could learn from CBS on what makes a successful & well scripted series.
I am shocked that Missing has been cancelled! Missing was the best tv program I have seen in YEARS! It was a fast paced, intelligent, suspense filled show that was well written and acted by a wonderful cast in beautiful locales. Guess that was just too much for the ‘reality mentality’ veiwers to grasp!
I am so TIRED of the networks cancelling good shows even though the viewership is high, but because it doesn’t show good for the younger viewers they cancel it. I am sick and tired of them cowtowing to the younger set, they don’t buy things like us older folks do. This sucks that a great show is going off the air. ABC in particular has put on a lot of crap this past year. They took off 2 of our soaps and look the Revolution is going off the air and so should The Chew. People need to be replaced… Read more »
What a disappointment that another quality show has been cancelled. Too bad that it was scheduled up against a popular reality show. Why don’t they schedule shows on Saturday night anymore? I wish that they ratings companies included shows that are recorded and watched later.
