Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

I am extremely disappointed that “Missing” has been cancelled. I really enjoyed the show and looked forward to watching it each week.
Very unfortunate that this show was cancelled! The concept was great, the actors were great, and it was nice to see all the destinations they shot in. Plus, it was a little more sophisticated that the run of the mill ABC reality show.
just curious how is a viewer counted? i watch on comcast after it is shown in real time. am I a viewer? I am but am I counted? we are very disappointed that good shows aren’t given enough time to gain viewership.
Sad.
In our office we hope missing is picked up on another channel such as tnt or lifetime. It was a great show.
very upset at the cancellation of Missing. It was one of the best shows on tv. We hope another station picks it up because ABC was silly in cancelling it.
I don’t know what you were thinking when you took this show off. I watch if from the
being to the end. You do some thing right and then you mess up !! I think it was one of the
best shows this season. If you knew you were going to end it why end with a sad ending.
It would have been nice to see them all happy. Will have to go back to CSI or Blue Blood.
You all need to get your act together on what adults want to watch it is not reality shows.
This was the best show I have seen on TV. Shocked that it is cancelled. I guess the show was too sharp…………….
I am FURIOUS that ‘Missing’ was cancelled and ‘Body of Proof’ was renewed. Dana Delaney’s character is SO ABRASIVE!!! It’s hard to watch !!!! My husband and I watched ‘Body of Proof’ BUT I am NO LONGER watching that show because ABC cancelled ‘Missing’ which I thought was a WONDERFUL show !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So THERE!
ABC – you just lost a viewer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn’t wait to watch missing everyweek, the charactors were great the show was the best. There are other shows on that should have been canceled because they are stupid. I am very sad the show had to end so soon.
It is a great show. I can’t believe it has been cancelled. I agree with Pat, there are other shows that are useless GCB. I hope another station picks this up. Ashley Judd and the other actors are very good. The show kept my interest and I could not wait to see another episode. Why do all the good shows get cancelled and then there are more reality shows springing up left and right. It does not make sense to take off a good show. Give it a better time slot, Sundays, Mondays, something besides Thursday.
this was a good show. it could have gotten better with time. all we get is reality after reality show. enough all ready. adults need good programs, not more of the same old crap.
Could not believe this show was cancelled. One of the best on TV. If the viewership was down, I blame the people who scheduled the time slot it aired. If this would have been put in the GCB time slot after Desperate Housewives, it would have succeeded. Hope some other station picks it up. Disappointed in ABC for drooping this show.
Best TV show since 24. I hate all the reality shows. One more singing show and I’m taking my tv to the dump. Little advertisement about the show. Recorded it by mistake. When I finally watched it, I couldn’t stop. Awesome, awesome show. Had to watch the last to shows on my computer. ABC- you are nuts to cancel this show. Idiots, and stupid- that’s what you are. Maybe Fox will pick it up.
thats a shame that there is nothing for adults to watch other than the same old crap abc has on…this show was really good …maybe it was too good to be on abc..idiots..no wonder they have poor ratings…they placate to idiots
I think the Network executives forget we are living in the age of internet TV and everyone cannot watch a show on the night it airs. Does it mean the show is not being watched? Noooooooooooooo… it just means some of us work jobs which do not allow us to sit down and watch a show when it first airs. But because I watch on line I can only see a show the day after it airs. I only watch shows online and Missing was one of my favorite shows to watch. I loved seeing a strong, tough yet femmine… Read more »
