TNT recently wrapped the first season of Monday Mornings, their latest medical drama. Should it return for a second season or be cancelled instead?
Monday Mornings follows the lives of the talented yet flawed doctors at the Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon. The title refers to the tough peer review meetings that are run by the hospital’s sarcastic Chief of Staff. The cast includes Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao, Emily Swallow, and Alfred Molina.
The show started off the season with just 1.36 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was less than half of what the Dallas premiere lead-in drew with 2.98 million and a 0.8 demo rating.
The numbers for Monday Mornings didn’t get much better as the weeks wore on. The season ended up averaging just 1.39 million viewers and a 0.3 in the demo.
Given these numbers, it seems highly unlikely that Monday Mornings will be back for a second season.
But what do you think? Would you like to see the show return for a second season or do you think it should be cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t catch on with a bigger audience? Was the title a problem? What would you have called it?
Don’t know why it didn’t catch on. Well acted, good writing, not your usual medical show.
This show is truly one of the best on tv this season. It is well written, has great actors and covered pertinent issues. Please do not cancel this great show! Maybe a new night would help!
TNT do not cancel this show. It’s the best on tv. I was so addicted to it that I refused to leave my house on Monday nights for fear of missing it. I tell everybody I know to watch it and once they do they are hooked. Come on viewers, let’s hype this on the net to keep “Monday Mornings” alive and well.
Loved this show from the first episode. It was smart, with hints of humor. Also showed the human side of doctors. Please,Being this show back for a second season. There are not enough quality shows on at the time.I’m tired of dumbed down sitcoms & reality shows. Please save this show.
Great show and cast. On a night with stiff competition from networks. With great scripts great cast(Molina and Rhames) it should come back. If not I hope ABC etc.pick it up
Please do not cancel really enjoyed the show.
I LOVE this show! I am not a usuall watcher of tv, and series are not my thing. That said, I look forward to this show every week! Please keep it for season 2!!
Loved the show; one of my favorites! Hope it comes back for a second season.
This is one of the better shows this year! Love the cast and story lines. They should give this medical show a decent chance. Why give it a short run and at least not give it a second season to give it a fair chance? Love Dr. Park….also the “311” group. Please bring it back!!!
Thought it was a great show….Would like a second season!
I love it. I hope it’s not cancelled.
Please, please don’t cancel the show. It was so well written and acted. I think it’s very timely, where people need feedback on their behavior even when they’re doing a basically good job. It shows the integrity of the doctors, as well as empathy and desire to be the best they can be. My husband and I enjoyed it even more than “House”, and it obviously was more believable. We’d be very disappointed to see the show disappear. Perhaps another season would give a chance for the audience to grow. Often, with so many choices, shows are cut off too… Read more »
wonderful show! Please give it one more season. Do a better Job of promoting it so people hear about it!
My girlfriend and I love this show. We are sadden to learn that it will most likely be cancelled. There are not many TV shows we watch together, but Monday Mornings is one that we do.We shall hold out hope that the TV “GOD” continues this well scripted drama.
Please don’t cancel Monday Mornings. I watched every episode and think it was the best new show this season and cannot understand why the ratings aren’t higher. I haven’t watched a medical drama since ER and didn’t know if I would be interested but the concept on the ad got my attention so I thought I’d check it out. So glad I did.
