In February, CBS gave early renewals for eleven of the network’s popular series. One cult favorite missing from the list was the freshman romantic series Moonlight. The series had been performing decently on Friday nights but, because of the writers strike, there haven’t been any new episodes in months. The network is producing four new episodes for this season and will begin airing April 25th. Before giving the go-ahead for season two, CBS likely wants to see if anyone remembers the series.
Fans of the vampire series aren’t waiting to see if the cancellation axe falls before starting campaigns to save it. “Operation: Renew Moonlight” kicked off yesterday and the folks from three fan sites aren’t April Fooling around. They’ve united to encourage fans to fill out a campaign form and send it along with a clove of garlic to Nina Tassler, the president of CBS. Check out Moonlight-United.com for more information.
In another effort, fans wanting to draw attention to the series are teaming up with the Red Cross and YouChoose.net for a weeklong blood drive. The campaign plans have impressed series star Alex O’Loughlin enough to become a spokesman for the Red Cross.

The “Blood Drive to Save Moonlight Campaign” will be held from April 18th through April 27th (corresponding with the start of new episodes) in cities like Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Philadelphia. There are over 4,000 pledges to date and fans are being invited to donate their time, blood or cash to support the effort and the Red Cross. Blood drive participants will be given a special t-shirt as a thank-you. For more information, head on over to MoonlightBloodDrive.org.
CBS announces their 2008-09 schedule in May so we should know if the fans’ hard work has paid off by then. Stay tuned!
i love moonlight !!
make more episodes please!
I agree with the “Twilight” postings…ANY network is missing out not capitalizing on the Twilight Craze — I loved the show and taped it EVERY Friday night, bring it back during the week and a “younger audience” will support it, no they will DEVOUR it.
This was a great show! Shame on CBS for “assuming” Moonlight would not do well in its second season, and instead bringing a show like “The Ex-list” to Fridays line up. Well we see how long that lasted! Bring back Moonlight. It was a great show, with a great cast. Have faith in your viewers knowing what they want. We have enough reality in our own lives, how about some good old fashioned fiction that we can get lost in! I am 44 and our family loved this show. So all ages are united to bring this show back! i liked moonlight.hope to see it return.
I truly believe that with the movie “Twilight” out, not only will the loyal viewers of the past come back, but a whole new set of viewers will jump on board. This could actually become a huge hit. They would be silly not to at least give it a try!
This was an awesome show with a new spin on vampires. the cast was great and the story line was really starting to go somewhere. it was a terrible loss to tv that it ended and needs to be brought back!
I THOUGHT THIS WAS A GREAT SHOW HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR IT TO COME BACK ON AIR SO SHOW YOU KEEP AND THE GOOD ONE YOU TOOK OFF WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO SEE THIS SHOW AGAIN
I agree, with Twilight (excellent books) now out and causing such a stir………..bring Moonlight back. It was an excellent show. Get over the reality shows, their disgusting..
You seriously did not cancel this show. I don’t believe it. It was a wicked show. WTF!
Why do you networks feel the need to cancel all of the good shows but add even more reality shows?Aren’t there enough weight losing, racing around the world ,bug eating reality shows out there now?Why not let us have a little fictional fun for once?Especially with movies like Twilight hitting right now, this show would be a great hit like it was last year. Why not bump a CSI or reality show and give it another try? This was one of my ultimate favorite shows last year and it bums me out that it’s not returning.
Bring back Moonlight……..I will be watching……..if not on TV, on the DVD set I’ll have coming in January
Buffy, Xena, Herceles, were huge hits. It’s like they expect all the Paranormal shows to start out with the Ratings that they got at thier peaks. Let word spread. Put it in a good timeslot that people can depend on. If you don’t know when a show is going to be playing, People don’t watch!
Please bring it back.
I loved watching Moonlight and I am buying the series all the episodes, it is like Blood Ties this was cancelled as well, Why don’t you make this into a film or do more series.
Moonlight was a great show, that let people escape into a different world. Why would CBS let a show like this go and keep all the CSI shows? All the CSI style shows are the same and I find them all repulsive and boring.
