Over the weekend, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler confirmed that the Three Rivers TV show had indeed been cancelled. Now that Alex O’Loughlin is finished with that series, does that mean that Moonlight will be coming back?
Moonlight follows private investigator and vampire Mick St. John (O’Loughlin) and Beth Turner (Sophia Myles), an Internet reporter. St. John saved Beth’s life as a child and the two develop a romantic relationship years later. Others in the series include Jason Dohring, Shannyn Sossamon, and Brian J. White
Though Moonlight had decent ratings and a devout group of followers, CBS decided to cancel the series after just one season. The network wanted to stay in business with O’Loughlin however and that eventually led to him being cast in Three Rivers.

While some Moonlight fans followed O’Loughlin to the new series, many didn’t. Some people who have posted to this site have said that they refused to watch Three Rivers in hopes that this would somehow convince/force CBS to revive Moonlight.
Now that Three Rivers has been officially cancelled, will Moonlight be back? While Tassler proudly takes credit for being ahead of the current vampire craze, she says that the network has no plans to revive the little-watched cult favorite.
Despite his show’s low ratings, Tassler does still believe in O’Loughlin’s talent and said, “We’re trying to find something for him.”

I think CBS have made a wuge mistake, cancelling Moonlight, some news pointed out that the CW is recovering Moonlight for Sunday evenings, and I have no doubt that many of the followers of the series on CBS will follow the series in another rival channel (CW), because this being a long series view, given the results obtained in the first season in respect of the audience, the CW will only be to win the bet with the recovery of a series that has much potential and level of loyal followers (like me) is one of the a series that… Read more »
I agree moonlight needs to come back! They cut it out before it really even got a chance… I mean i know that at least they left it where he at least gets the girl but then what? There was many other things that never where answered! As someone who has the only season i do wish they would give it another chance to see what it can become! Please bring Moonlight back to uk screens there are a lot of us who would love to see this. Those of us older ones who tune in find The Vampire Diaries does’nt quite cut it Moonlight had a very good background story developing as well as the Mick&Beth storyline.

This was a big mistake to cancel this. I hope that they will bring this back with the cancellations of all the other shows
I’ve love to see Moonlight back. Like others, I tried to get interested in Three Rivers but it never really grabbed me. Despite that, I still watched every episode.
No matter what happens though, I’ll always follow Alex, Sohpia, and Jason’s careers and watch anything they’re in.
I would love to see Alex back in Moonlight. What a cast also. First saw him in a small part in The Holiday and his girl Coraline was in it too. What a hoot. Sophia Myles is one of the prettiest girls I ever seen. Hope it returns.
I don’t understand it! If CBS is too lame to pickup Moonlight, why can’t the show find a new home: CW, USA or scifi even. I know dvd sales for Moonlight has helped the show, so why not bring it back on the air. Look at these other spin offs of Moonlight: Vampire’s Diary and True Blood are both hits thinks to Moonlight.
Since we now know that Alex in going to be Steve in H5O, we’ll have to run with it. However, I am and always will be a die hard Moonlight fan. The NBC affiliates Sci Fi and Chiller have been kind enough to all of us to show Moonlight many times on the TV and for that we are very grateful. Three Rivers was ok, but not good for Alex. it is really a pity that we must conform to the CBS rules and see this show no more. The best series i have ever watched are gone: Wired in the Blood and Moonlight. Although i’ve got a question” Moonlight is worse than True Blood or even Twillight?” And for God sake, nobody deserves to watch Gossip Girl as well as Sex and the City (have you ever seen a real gorgeous woman CBS? Sorry , I just couldn’t get into 3 Rivers. It was too fast paced and I didn’t feel I could connect with the characters. There wasn’t much to their personal lives , it was mostly them working on someone dying in the hospital. Again.. nothing new with medical dramas like that with cop shows..Boring unless you throw in something unique about the character and you got to have romance…where was it in 3 Rivers???I don’t like Alex’s short hair cut. The longer hair he had on Moonlight was hot..
I think CBS did make a huge mistake in cancelling Moonlight and continue to hope we might someday get a movie or miniseries, assuming the entire original cast is brought back. But I’m interested in the other roles Alex wants to play and I’m glad to hear he’ll be back on screen in another series. No, I don’t think Moonlight is a detriment to Alex’s career at all.
