The final note has sounded. The Mozart in the Jungle TV show has been cancelled after four seasons on Amazon. The executive producers have confirmed there will be no fifth season. Check out their statement, below.
An Amazon Prime comedy drama, Mozart in the Jungle stars Gael García Bernal, Lola Kirke, Malcolm McDowell, Bernadette Peters, Saffron Burrows, and Hannah Dunne. Guest stars in in the fourth season include Debra Monk, Masi Oka, Michael Emerson, and John Cameron Mitchell. Based on Blair Tindall’s memoir, Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs & Classical Music, the series peeks behind the curtains at the New York Symphony.

“We are so proud of the four seasons we made of this show and are grateful to the cast, crew, fans and Amazon for writing this symphony with us,” executive producers Paul Weitz, Will Graham, Roman Coppola and Jason Schwartzman said iun [sic] a statement. “We hope people will keep finding the show for years to come.”

Shame on you Amazon for cancelling this beloved show leaving it up in the air without closure and ending it properly. Very low brow and unprofessional. I’ll never watch another Amazon series.
Come on. Obviously wrap it up with one more season.

What? You cancel it! It’s a great show and I just loved the music and arts focus. It was so different… I’m very sad and disappointed.
So Sad to see this one go… best Malcolm McDowell role ever. Wonderful music, fantastic sound recording, with the lengthened excerpts at the end of each episode. Beautiful locations, great camera, some really memorable scenes (the dancers!) Sr. Bernal and Ms. Kirke great great chemistry… so many memorable performances ..can’t say enough. Have to go now to finish season 4 Thanks Amazon, please revive this one!
Oh please renew for season five! One of the best shows! Really bummed that they don’t have a season five to at least tie it off neatly.
Incredibly disappointed. Bringing together the drama, the humour, the music was magical
I’m soooo bummed that they decided to leave us hanging with the final episode of season 4. It feels like there was so much more to say. If they decided not to do a 5th season, the least they could have done was give us a real ending that wraps up the storylines. I feel that ending the love story with Hailey and Rodrigo was not the best way to end the series—particularly having Hailey sobbing at the end (because she clearly still loves him). Just felt unfinished and I feel cheated out of a true ending for the series.
I loved this show, but I was a little disappointed by
the Maestro and Haile getting together. She was so boring and inappropriate for him. She should have stayed his protégé and let him continue to hook up with other brilliant, kooky characters like him. I will miss this show.

They should at least do a follow-up final film to give the fans closure. Absolutely hate dangling ends.

Everyone I know who has seen Mozart in the Jungle, loves it, their favorite show. Don’t cancel!!!! Such a creative and innovative program, fantastic cast! It’s causing a resurgence of interest in classical music as well. We need this breath of fresh air in these depressing times. We are heartbroken to hear. Please, please reconsider!
Please don’t leave us hanging! Wrap things up with a season 5 please!
