The ratings for the first season of Murder in the First weren’t terrible but they weren’t great either. Other shows with similar numbers were cancelled but TNT still renewed the detective drama. Will the numbers improve or fall this time around? Cancelled or renewed for a third season? Stay tuned.
In season two of Murder in the First, San Francisco homicide detectives Terry English (Taye Diggs) and Hildy Mulligan (Kathleen Robertson) investigate a series of murders with ramifications that could tear their department and city apart. Others in the cast include A.J. Buckley, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Laila Robins, Mo McRae, Mateus Ward, John Cothran, Raphael Sbarge, Lombardo Boyar, Ian Anthony Dale, Currie Graham, and Mimi Kirkland.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
8/17 update: If you ran TNT, would you cancel or renew this series for a third season?

What do you think? Do you like watching the Murder in the First TV series on TNT? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
I enjoyed last year’s series of shows, and waited anxiously for its return. But alas, this years shows are not up to last years standards. There are too many plot twists that make It hard to follow the story line. I plan on continuing to watch the show, but I could enjoy it more if it had a more simple script.
cancel it or clean it up !!!
excellent show great cast, please do not cancel, such good story line, plot and keeps you interested all the way to the end and looking forward to the next one.
Really enjoyed last year….leads are great and the “bad guy” was excellent…..Saw first show last Monday and we are fans….keep it on…also a fan of Major Crimes now that Kyra is gone
give it a chance it’s a good series let’s see how it develops and people get to know the characters I really like it.
Truly a beautiful series. The characters are brilliant. I really love actors
I really like it!!!!!
I enjoyed a lot, I love this cast! engaging!
Just horrible. Poor script, lousy acting. Show opens with 2 kids riding bus home from schoo. They start shooting up the bus. The main’characters(cops), barely move, show absolutely no emotion, panic or urgency. Everyone shows up but swat. Stand off is over, and now its dark so it must be hours later. TV crews are just showing up, in the middle of the city? She calls her daughter..where are you she asks…still at school?…how late does her school go?….it’s dark out?. Oh wait they need a subpoena to search his house. ..good thing the judge is having a trial late… Read more »
loser! Try to act! Not for all!
I love this show…. The cast is excellent & the story (though terribly sad) was fantastic.
TNT you made the right decision by renewing it. To K, how could you NOT “get into” this show? To Wayne… Dallas? Seriously? Total crap!
When I saw coming attractions, I couldn’t wait. Even told my dad he might want to ck out a new show…boy was I wrong! I just COULD NOT get into this show. There are some shows, I can’t believe the hour is up…then there was this one. It just never pulled me in. Sorry TNT
I was surprised when this was renewed; it was a boring, utterly predictable show with no energy in the cast. TNT must’ve been desperate to keep it.
I really enjoy this police drama. It shows what does happen in real life. Just gave it a chance to build up its rating and a fan base with the older fan not the 18 year who are to busy with social media.
TNT will cancel this show this year, it had low ratings last year. Dallas had better ratings than this and it was cancelled.
I love the show!! The cast is fantastic and the storylines are riveting. I was so excited to see the show return for a 2nd season. I only wish more shows would have returned for a 2nd season. It is refreshing for a network to invest in a show for a change!! Thank you TNT!!
