Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

I was getting really into the show and I was disapointed and shocked when I found out the show got canceled. Can someone release the remaining episodes to see what happens with everyone. It was one of the best shows on TV…that and Castle!
I think 3-4 million viewers is enough. To replace it with repeats of Grey’s Anatomy is a slap in the face. I loved the show and was very eager to watch it each week. Shame on ABC for canceling it.
so upset. it was a great show, actually worthwhile to watch. i was really into it…BOOOOO for canceling.
Hah. ABC, oh how often you do such things.
I am so upset they canceled this and frankly dont understand it. it was so creative, enticing, emotional and well written. YES i would buy the dvd in a heartbeat and if it is never released I will forever hold that grudge most likely when I think back to what an amazing show could have been. Anyone who works on the show reading this please please find a way to bring it back, after the first episode was released online I showed all my friends and they fell in love, you have a bigger following than what was led on!
It’s a shame that this has happened. I saw the pilot on abc.com and the second and last episode on tv. I can’t believe this has happened, two weeks it’s not enough time to determine if a program is successful or not!!
This is the second time this has happened to my fave shows. The first time was flashforward, which I still miss terribly!!
I’d definitely would watch the remaining episodes on dvd, hulu, abc.com, or wherever…
abc sucks!!!!
I do not understand why the so was cancelled. I enjoyed the show from the start of the series. Will the last episodes be shown? This sucks!
Pleaseeeeeeeeee bring this show back! What they have to realize is that the age demographic this show is aimed towards is most likely not going to watch it on tv! Personally, I just watched the first two episodes today. They were absolutely fantastic and I really hope they at least release these online! I loved it so much!
Who cancels a show after only 2 episodes? We even give a kid three chances to make the same mistake. Such stupid decision of ABC!
I was disappointed to hear about My Generation being cancelled. I wasn’t home the last 2 Thursday and set it to be recorded and when it wasn’t there I just assumed I programed it for the wrong time.
Please Please release on DVD, not just online. I live in Canada, so sites like hulu.com do not work for us Canadians. Most sites in fact still don’t allow non-US people to watch, which should also be corrected.
Please release ASAP on wide release DVD.
Can’t believe it got cancelled after only two shows. Instead of repeats, the remaining epsiodes should be aired. Maybe a different time slot would yield more viewers. I enjoyed the series and will look for the remaining episodes on line
Please bring back this show. I really liked it.
I am disappointed that abc has cancelled this great show.
All members of my family(5) that include 3 teenagers, my husband and myselv, watched this program and we were curious to know what is the story of each person. Please bring back the show soon.
Please release the remaining episodes on Hulu.com! I am not able to watch tv due to the amount of people in my house and the limited amount of cable. My Generation was one of my favorite shows. I honestly like it more than Glee.
I can’t believe that this show was canceled…finally, something worth watching. and then BAM!! Gone…. I’m so bummed…Loved this show from the get-go.
