Hallelujah! The Nashville TV show is so close to being saved, it might as well be baptized. ABC abruptly cancelled Nashville after four lyrical seasons. Now CMT, which has been increasing its scripted offerings, is rumored to announce it has renewed — or make that ordered — the fifth season of Nashville starring Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Clare Bowen, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio, Lennon Stella, Maisy Stella, and Chris Carmack.
TV Line reports CMT is THISCLOSE to greenlighting Nashville season five. That is music to our ears. The formal pick-up announcement is expected to be made during the June 8, 2016 CMT Awards (i.e. tomorrow, y’all). Could this Nashville TV show cancellation and renewal be more like a country song, if they tried?
Per TV Line, Lionsgate (the studio behind the decision to end the fourth season on a cliffhanger) and CMT have declined to comment. Which cast members will return for Nashville, season five, remains to be seen.
What do you think? Is this news too good to be true, or did you always expect CMT would renew the Nashville TV series for a fifth season? Will you watch Nashville, season five, even if the whole cast doesn’t return? Tell us!
Great news! So glad somebody was smart enough to bring back my favorite show! You have to bring back ALL the same characters and people who play them. Thank you!!!
Omg this has made my day! Thank you CMT….you won’t be sorry!

I would be thrilled if CMT picks up Nashville. The show is so entertaining and the cast is wonderfully talented.
