SPOILERS. Reportedly, there was a happy ending to last night’s Nashville TV series finale, “Maybe You’ll Appreciate Me Someday.” It seems Lionsgate TV nixed the sweet denouement in favor of a shocking cliffhanger, in an effort to market future seasons of the Country-Western music drama to new buyers. ABC recently cancelled Nashville, starring Connie Britton, Charles Esten, and Clare Bowen, after four seasons.
In the aired Nashville finale, Juliette’s (Hayden Panettiere) plane went missing and she was feared dead. According to TV Line, another version of the finale had Juliette land safely and reunite with Avery (Jonathan Jackson).
TV Line says:
Reps for ABC and Lionsgate declined to comment, but a source close to Lionsgate tells TVLine that the studio “is fully confident that there’s much more Nashville to be told. Tonight’s Season 4 finale ending speaks to that confidence. Not to frustrate or disappoint fans, rather Lionsgate, ABC Studios and Opry Entertainment are listening to fans’ outpouring of support online for more.”
For its part, it looks like Lionsgate TV had a tweet all lined up for the moment the Nashville TV show concluded its ABC run. Check it out.
#Nashies What a cliffhanger! But we won’t leave you hanging. There's more story to be told. #BringBackNashville

What do you think? Have you taken part in the social media campaign to find the Nashville TV series a new home for its fifth season? Are you glad Lionsgate promoted a risky strategy in order to sell the show, or are you angry you didn’t get closure?
I would definitely continue to follow this show whatever network it’s on! So sad to have it end and so abruptly!!! #bringbacknashville
Please keep this show going. I will follow it to any network that will carry it.
PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LOSE THIS SHOW!!!! I was in Nashville at the CMA Fan Fest for the Pilot showing and fell completely in love with the show. It has to continue!!!! I’m in Canada and it’s my only link to Nashville, my home away from home!!!
If the ending does work to get a 5th season, fine. But the new season better include Juliette having some well deserved happiness!!!
I am so upset… Enraged even that they would cancel this amazing musical and family oriented show. SOMEONE KEEP IT ALIVE…
Please don’t cancel. One of my all time favorite shows!
Love this show. Best of the week. Please please bring the acting and music back! Don’t chase fans away by everyone being miserable all the time. Let some happiness in!
Nashville is one of the best on network TV. Extremely disappointed in ABC for canceling the series.
Come on ya’ll. Greys Anatomy has long over lived their time on air. Same stories week after week for years. I feel safe saying that everyone should be tired of poor pitiful whiney Meredith. Give their time slot to the awesome hit show Nashville…. PLEASE!
I love Nashville and really want this show to continue. Cancelling it because the show supports the LGBT community is ridiculous! What happened to freedom of speech?? #BringBackNashville
What a horroble exit to my favorite show! My husband and I can’t wait each week to get our Nashville fix and can’t believe that it is being dropped from the network!! What a sad shame for such amazing talent. Thumbs down to all of the decision makers…I’m sure what you put in its place will only be half as interesting.
I really love this show. I’m so tired of the good shows being cancelled just because of controversy. Whatever happened to freedom of speech?? #BringBackNashville
I cannot believe that ABC is not picking Nashville up for another season. Hoping that some other network will pick it up and fast. I will follow it anywhere it goes!!!
Yet again another great show cancelled. What is wrong with these networks cancelling show that people actually like watching?
Exactly, this is why I have basically stopped watching TV. I love this show and I am so tired of getting in to a show and actually enjoying it for it suddenly to be cancelled. Young kids, teens and college age kids are not the only ones that need to be entertained. Us older people do too.
cut the last minute off, then it works fine.
