The saga of NBC’s medical disaster series continues.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
Back in October, NBC indicated they weren’t ordering any additional episodes of Trauma beyond the initial 13 episode order, effectively cancelling the series. Then, in the wake of the failure of The Jay Leno Show, they ordered seven more episodes to fill primetime space.
When Trauma returned to the NBC schedule after a three month hiatus, the ratings were even worse than they were back in November. If the execs weren’t happy with the ratings before, they were very likely regretting their decision to order additional installments.
According to the Futon Critic, NBC has now cut their additional episode order from seven to five installments. That brings the season total to 18 episodes.
The last episode of the season, and almost certainly the series, will air on April 26th. No word yet if the producers adapted episode 18 so that it could serve as a series finale or if viewers will be left hanging.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Trauma’s episode order has been cut? Are you holding onto hope that it will be back for season two?

Trauma needs to be kept because it is the only medical show I watch now that ER isn’t on anymore. Bring it back NBC.
First, I love this show. I think it is this year’s best new series. Canceling it would be a huge mistake, but its not like a network really cares what I think. Its kind of hard for a show to get good reviews when it comes back after 3 months when most of its loyal viewers had NO CLUE it was coming back. Most of us who love this show wondered what the hell happened to it and thought it was already canceled… so of course its ratings were worse, no one knew it would be on so they didn’t… Read more »
I am an avid CBS Fan, until I found Trauma. As it was said by a couple of others, “no Trauma, no NBC”.
i think that trauma is an amazing show!!! im not apart of the medical squad but they do really good acting and they make it fun and eventful|!!! I THINK THE SHOW SHOULD STAY ON!! just b/cuz other people dont like it as much as some of us then boo hoo who cares.. its a good show and they are all awesome people… let the show go on!!!
I am very saddened by the news of the ending of Trauma it is a great medical show & I love all of the characters and the actors they play them. It’s riveting TV in my opinion as as the others have commented I am sick to death of most of the reality TV shows that are on air. I finally found a real drama that I love to watch and once again a show that is decent & not full of alot of vulgar sex or senseless violence. Once again I have been screwed out of a watching a… Read more »
I can NOT believe they have canceled Trauma it’s was one of the best shows I have ever watched some even think it’s better then ER was NBC must be out of there mind form canceling this show. What are we supposed to watch at night now.
I don’t see how the show got bad ratings because everyone i talked to loved and watched the show….maybe they should have cancelled jay leno instead. I am very dissapointed.
I absolutely love this show. Why are you cancelling it NBC? I make sure I get everything done so I can see it. Never missed a show. Come back Season 2…….
How can they take off such a great show? On top of that leave the viewers hanging–not even a finale…… NBC does not give a hoot about the viewers. What a shame………………
We do not need another dumb sitcom. A lot of them that are on now–lets just say if you have an IQ of 20 you’ll love them……… What’s yours NBC?
i loved this show. i had no idea that it was being cancelled. i went to look on my dvr tonight to watch it….as i do each monday, and it wasnt there! i searched it and there was no show. i’m very disappointed. not too many shows that i watch and i really enjoyed this one. i dont think it was really given a chance by the public cuz i was hooked the first episode.
Trauma should not be cancelled!!! It is a great show!! I hope there will be a season 2!! Keep Trauma!!
What are you thinkjng, NBC? Trauma is my all-time favorite medical drama. I had started to watch Mercy but the story line was too much about personal relationships and not about medical drama. Like the other said ‘Trauma is the best medical drama since ER’!! Bring Trauma back!!!
I agree with everyone. There aren’t many good shows on TV at all anymore. Trauma is such a good show – I still want to know what is going to happen – they can’t just pull the plug and leave us hanging. The acting, characters, stories just grab you & pull you in. And there certainly is a lot of adrenaline, action, etc. I can never get tired of it. NBC: please move this to one of your affiliates where it can get the love & attention it needs. Don’t screw up yet another great show!!!!!!! Do the right thing… Read more »
