TV show description:
Sexy, strong, and talented, Dr. Dani Santino (Callie Thorne) is a Long Island psychotherapist whose comfortable suburban life is turned upside down by a messy divorce. Her husband basically packs his bags and leaves her alone with their two teenage kids. Though initially wary about what her future will hold, Dani finds herself going from devoted wife to in-demand therapist as word gets out about her tough love counseling skills. High-profile clients start knocking at her door in the hopes that Dr. Dani’s take-no-prisoners counseling approach will help them overcome their crises. Dani’s clients constantly keep her on her toes — as do her two kids.
A former college hoops player, Matt (Marc Blucas) is a trainer that’s devoted to his football team, protective of his players, and undeniably attracted to Dani. After a one-night stand and morning-after therapy session with her, Matt manages to finally quit smoking — and is so impressed with Dr. Dani’s skills that he persuades the New York Hawks head coach to bring her in to work with the players. But though the sparks between the two are obvious, Matt and Dani are both professionals with strong ethics, and now that they’re coworkers they’re going to have to find a way to keep their feelings in check.
An enigmatic employee of the Hawks, Nico (Scott Cohen) is a professional problem-solver with a whole lot of tricks up his sleeve and no problem getting his hands dirty. He has a tendency to turn up unannounced with emergency assignments for Dani, and a maddening habit of never taking no for an answer. Nico’s methods can sometimes be questionable but there’s no denying that he manages to get things done.
Terrence “TK” King (Mehcad Brooks) is the New York Hawks’ star wide receiver —- and his coach’s biggest headache. Though a gifted player, TK is wild, confrontational, charismatic, and stubborn. He’s also a loose cannon, with a violent temper, serious authority issues, and a nasty habit of dropping the ball. When his off-the-field antics grow out of control, TK is sent to Dr. Dani to work through his issues, and with her help manages to make some positive steps (like remembering how to hold on to a football again). They still have a long way to go however and just as she puts out one fire, another one is ready to ignite.
Episode #38 — Sympathy For the Devil
The kiss Dani had with Nico has led to a wonderful night together, but the cocoon of romance is shattered when they arrive at the V3 office and the mysterious Alex Careles is there. Alex is not only a woman but also Nico’s wife. Dani is floored. This is not like the other secrets Nico has been keeping from her. Nico explains that Alex was once a colleague whom he married to keep in the country and for their mutual benefit so they couldn’t testify against one another. At times it was a romantic relationship but not anymore. Alex is leaving the country that night and has already handed Nico divorce papers. More confused than ever, Dani tells Nico she can’t have a relationship with someone she will really never know. Can Nico finally come clean and reveal his past to Dani.
TK is trying everything he can—legal, of course—to heal himself before the Bobcats’ big playoff game with the Hawks. He pleads with Coach Purnell to let him play, but Coach is reluctant to put TK in for one game and potentially ruin his future. Sheera also does not want TK to risk his career but during their conversation, the truth comes out: she thinks he should’ve gone through with the treatment. If no one would ever have known that he used what has been proven to be an illegal gene hormone illegally imported from China that is almost impossible to detect, then why wouldn’t he use it?, she asks. With the full force of her ambition and the falseness of her love laid bare, TK ends the relationship. He’ll face his fate alone but with a clear conscience.
With Paloma’s help, Dani is able to track down Hutch, who like Crabchek, has changed his name. Hutch seems to be the smoking gun Dani and Nico have been looking for to implicate Connor in the V3 clinic doping scandal. But before Nico arranges Hutch to meet with the FBI, she wants to confront Connor herself. But she’s going to have to act fast. Connor has just named Abby Bruce as Partner and CFO of V3 and is about to leave for Rio for three months, coincidentally right after the V3 clinic is raided by the FBI.

What do you think? Do you like the Necessary Roughness TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
Loved the show, want to know how Nico and Dani connected after they really got together?
I think there should be more seasons. I love this show. Im so disappinted that its over.
Just found this show. Love it. Have watched all episodes several times. Would love for it to continue. So many unanswered questions. Strong main characters.
Definitely renewed for a few more seasons.
I think that the series was terrific. The series should have been picked-up for a fourth season.
Never knew about this show, but watching it on CTV Throwbacks, I like how there is finally a lead female character that isn’t all wishy-washy. She’s a strong role model for females and each season adds a new twist; different place, new characters entwining with some old ones and bringing back characters. A very well written, well casted and definitely well filmed. BRING IT BACK!
I watched this up to season 12.on channel 7 .. I love this show is there more episodes?? It can’t be finished best show I have seen for awhile
Loved the show, should not have been cancelled
The show was awesome most of the times. I’m not sure why it was not renewed
Just watched the last episode but come on, if there was ever an open ending….!?
This story can’t be over yet.
I miss this show. Even named my Chihuahua TK!!
TK is awsome.
Dim so disappointed to hear that this brilliant series has been cancelled. I live in Australia and only just watched the 3 seasons on Netflix. The final episode left me on a high as to what was to be revealed and now to find its cancelled…really!! Finally a shoe that offers into human behavior with such Insite…..PLEASE FINISH THE SERIES
This is a show with great, really great, potential. If you have ever read any of Janet Evonoviches books, starting with One for the Money …. you can see that the characters in Necesay Roughness are perfect for a similar type of plot and storyline. One cute hottie and the “good” guy plus the “dangerous” but dependable guy who always had her back. I was so dissappointed to learn the series ended when it was just starting to get really interesting !! Shame on you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very disappointed that this show was cancelled. I really enj0yed it and want it back.
Necessary roughness was the first series, that a man who enjoys sports and a female who enjoys daily soaps can sit down together and watch. Come on USA first it was fairly legal now necessary roughness. Why do you cancel all of your signature shows and continue to play reruns of in CSI, NCIS and law and order, those to be alone take up 75% of the week. Very disappointed….
This is great show. Please do not cancel. I am very upset it is said to be cancelled. Listen to your viewers & do not cancel.
