The Powells may have super powers but they weren’t strong enough to save their TV series. No Ordinary Family has been cancelled after one season on the air.
No Ordinary Family revolves around suburban family who, while on vacation, crash into Amazon River and gain special abilities. The cast includes Michael Chiklis, Julie Benz, Autumn Reeser, Jimmy Bennett, Kay Panabaker, Tate Donovan, Christina Chang, and Romany Malco.
The drama had a decent debut last September with a 3.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.69 million total viewers. Unfortunately, the ratings didn’t stay at that level and dropped by 16% in week two and then 15% in week three. The numbers kept declining and went as low as a 1.2 demo rating and just 4.26 million viewers in March.

The network cut the episode order but it was already clear by that point that the show was finished. ABC pre-empted one installment and bumped the penultimate episode to Saturday nights, an evening when few are watching. The first season of No Ordinary Family ended up averaging a 1.8 in the demo and 6.4 million viewers, making it one of the lowest dramas of the ABC season.
ABC has now officially cancelled No Ordinary Family. All 20 episodes have aired. Hopefully, at some point, the producers will share what they had planned for the future of the series.

I can not belive that they would cancel such a great show with such a terrific story line.
No Ordinary Family was a great show. I loved how they learned to work together. Although I must admit, the show did remind me of “The Incredibles.” Which was also a very good movie. My family looked forward to each episode. We were really into the whole show.
I learned a valuable lesson: Never get to involved with a show because you never know when it will end. We were very disappointed. I say bring the show back. I’ll forgive the network decision makers if they do.
This was one of the few “wholesome” family shows on TV that was interesting and entertaining. The decision to cancel it is extremely disappointing. Will it be replaced by another disgusting reality show?
We are so disappointed. It was a show that we always watched and the whole family loved it. I guess it was just to clean and now days it seems that good shows just cannot compete with the other TRASH that is on.
Who are these clowns that cancel a show the whole family can sit and enjoy. It was a throw back to Saturday morning cartoons when life was good. “Space ghost, the Impossibles etc.’

No Ordinary Family was a great TV-Show in the making. It simply needed more time to develop. Like Heros and Lost it had the potential for a cult-following. By all accounts it was at least a 100-episode show. The first season developed the main characters. The second-season would have developed the story-lines, character-arcs, etc. If the show had a weakness it was the writing- and even then, only because of loose scripts (tighter story-lines, varied/individual character arcs-written like a Rolling Stones’ lyric/song would have easily secured a fan-base & ratings.) Let me guess. ABC will replace a good family show with one of the following: an idiotic reality show, another crime/medical drama (it’s not like there aren’t a million of those shows already), or a situation comedy filled with sex jokes and innuendos. Oh, I almost forgot. They might just re-gurgitate an old 70s or 80s show and do it badly like the other remakes.
This show was really great. It included a lot of components in one and it was worth watching it and spending own time for it as well. This show really could be interesting for the whole family. It involves action, drama, love, fantasy and much more…I especially liked the line of Joshua and Cattie, because it was really unusual to see how bad boy became a good one and a fantastic baby could be something really special and unique!I really hope that someday ABC will change it mind and give the series and second season a second chance)))))
This was one of my favorite shows. Its a bummer that it was canceled I wish it would come back. The ending of the season left me hooked I wanted to see what would come next of the show. What new and interesting things were to come. ABC don’t cancel this show, bring it back for one more season and see if ratings are higher!

Unlike all the U.S. viewers the Australian viewers enjoyed this show immensely.
It was great family entertainment, and a great plot which kept us all guessing. We are disappointed and can only hope the producers rethink their stance on cancelling the series. There is plenty to go with for a second series. Avid Aussie fans.
It really stinks that this show was canceled. There was a show my entire family could enjoy watching. There are not enough shows like that anymore . Or is that people just have no taste. How do you decide what people like to watch. What ever way you are doing it . It’s the wrong way.
I agree, my family also enjoyed this show. I will miss it now, because now we have to watch icarly or victorious ect. because the shows airing nowadays, are mostly to graphic!
There aren’t many shows that grip me, but No Ordinary Family did! I was just browsing through channels and saw that WATCH was airing them and I tuned in on Episode 10. I’ve watched it from there, then left the final episode, till I’d watched the first 9 episodes. There is so much more that can be done for a second series! My whole famile loved the show and it was something we could sit down together and watch.
Like others we had to record the show when you moved it to Saturdays.
But like other shows that you cancelled you say tuff.
I for one am going to cancell ABC from my remote. You keep cancelling shows why shouldn’t I cancell ABC.

I became addicted to No Ordinary Family watching it on Hulu Plus. I was unaware the series existed and NOW I find that its been cancelled???? Poor advertisement by ABC! I’m a huge fan…only to never see it again! Sucks.
