Are you a big NYPD Blue fan? Deadline reports Rick Gomez and Ashley Thomas have joined ABC’s sequel series pilot.
The pilot “centers on Theo (Fabien Frankel), the son of Dennis Franz’s Detective Andy Sipowicz character from the original series, who tries to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad while investigating his father’s murder.”
On ABC‘s NYPD Blue sequel, Gomez will be playing Detective Craig Pettibone and Thomas has been cast as Detective Chris Gamble. Gomez and Thomas join two of NYPD Blue’s original cast members, Kim Delaney and Bill Brochtrup.

I loved NYPD Blue and was an enthusiastic fan when it was telecast during its original run! I still watch it in reruns on HandITV on channel 5.3 in Alaska. Can’t wait for the new series and am anticipating it with hopefully 2 thumbs up!
Absolutely loved the original. Just got done binging the entire series on Netflix. Will definitely watch anything remotely close!
I have loved this show since day 1! And it only got better as the years went on! My favorite was Andy Sipowitz, of course! I hope that his Mother, Connie will also be back!? I loved Jimmy Smits as “Bobby Simone”, my all time favorite partner of Andy! I continue to watch the original episodes, they never get old! So happy that “PAA John Irwin” & “Diane Russell” will also be back! Now if they could just get Esai Morales to reprise his role as “Lt Tony Rodriguez”… I will definitely watch the new series & I am looking… Read more »
I just hope it doesn’t take away from the original. What I would like to see is Dennis come back talk to Theo like Andy Jr. Did to his father.

Sounds like a plan as NYPD Blue is my favorite episodic cop show. It will be tough though without anchorman Sipowicz. I must admit that I’m somewhat disappointed in a Brit being cast to act like a New Yorker…I guess that’s “Hollywood” for ya…

Yes Absoultely was my favorite show have all 12 seasons on dvd. I see great storylines with andy sr. Friends and former partners and bosses helping to solve his murder appearing on show. What about connie his stepmom will she be involved?
My favorite as well! Love your ideas of bringing back other cast members back to help solve Andy’s murder! He was such a driving force on that show, I hope that they include “flashbacks” for his “son” Theo!

I loved the original NYPD Blue show, I watched it when it first aired and am watching it all over again now on reruns. I hope the new NYPD will be as good, hope some of the original cast will be in it so it will feel like the stories continue…
