As previously reported, ABC had planned on running just four of its six episodes of October Road. Though the series shows evidence of losing steam, ABC has changed their plans.
October Road debuted on March 15th to 13.93 million viewers. The second episode dropped 16% and the third dropped to less than 8.3 million. Despite this decline, the series has been attracting a healthy percentage of the desirable 18-49 demographic.
ABC had planned to air only four of the six episodes of October Road this season. If the series was renewed then the remaining two episodes would air as part of season two. ABC has now decided to air the remaining two episodes this season.
October Road will take a one week break while a double dose of sitcom Notes from the Underbelly debuts on April 12th. Underbelly will then move to Wednesday nights beginning April 18th. The two episodes of October Road will air on April 19th and 26th. No word on what will occupy the timeslot after that.
A final decision on an October Road second season will likely be announced in mid-May at the network upfronts. Stay tuned! 
October Road has been picked up for a second season (no decision on 13 or 22 episodes). As a male in his mid-30’s this is the fastest I have ever grown onto a show. It has an excellent cast, scenery, music, and production.
Arggghhh! I’m fed up with the networks! October Road is a great show. Six Degrees was a good show. Network execs need to stop playing with schedules. Give a show a chance. Keep it in the same time slot. If things don’t work out, change it in the fall…you will never build up a suitable audience if you don’t respect your viewers. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! DO NOT CANCEL ANOTHER SHOW (OCTOBER ROAD) …..not so soon! I have already suffered from the cancelation of DAY BREAK, and the mysteriously disappearing THE NINE! I am a loyal LOST fan as well, and even that show was “lost” for more than a month! What do you people at ABC think you are doing?? Don’t you believe in consistency?? How do you expect any of your shows to gain momentum, if you are always playing “musical time slots” with your programming guide?? I hope the show is continued. I seem to get really into shows and they go and cancel them. I missed the first two shows of October Road. After I saw the third episode, I wanted to see more. I’ve actually saved the episodes that I would watch again before the following week because the week was so long to wait. I agree that this is a nice replacement for Ed. Though, I miss that too. I also miss Everwood (eventhough that’s not an ABC one).
This show is fantastic!!!! Finally a show I am not totally embarassed watching with my daughter in the room! My whole family watched it. We discussed it every Friday at work. Please bring this back for a season 2.
I really am enjoying the shows. I can’t wait for it to come on these days. I’m hoping it will stay on. I’m quite tired of ABC cancelling shows that I like.
I really love this show and when it started getting more better you ended the season… Pls. don’t cancel October Road I wanna know who’s Sams dad…. I LOVE THIS SHOW…. ITS A REALLY COOL SHOW!!! October Road is an awesome show. I think it would be in ABC’s best interest to have a second season. Run it for a full year and see what happens. I know it will do good.
This is the first show I’ve seen in I don’t know how long that is truly geared towards the upper 20’s – 30’s. Those are the years we revisit memories of childhood and entertain thoughts of “going back home.” I truly love this song. The music is terrific. Brings me back. And the characters have a wonderful chemistry that I haven’t seen in a while. They really are the characters. It’s easy to believe this isn’t pretend. PLEASE keep this show going! I absolutely love it,and want to see it return!!! There are three of us in my household that watched every minute of every episode. So thats three votes to renew. WE LOVE OCTOBER ROAD!!!!!!!!
