ABC had high hopes for Off the Map, their new medical drama from veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and ABC has now cancelled Off the Map after one season on the air.
Off the Map follows the lives of six doctors who have “lost their way” and have traveled to a remote South American jungle to try to rediscover why they wanted to become physicians.
The TV series’ cast includes Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The TV series premiered to a disappointing 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The show won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. As a result, ABC reran the premiere Off the Map the following night.
For whatever reason, subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Despite having some very passionate fans, Off the Map ended up being one of the lowest dramas on ABC. It’s no surprise then that the network has now decided against ordering a second season, cancelling the show. All 13 episodes have aired and we likely won’t find out what became of the young doctors left in the jungle.

Its so stupid of them to cancel Off The Map.Why even watch good television on ABC anymore, it will just get cancelled. ABC made a big mistake by cancelling LOST and is making some more huge mistakes by cancelling Off The Map and Desperate Housewives. Loved the show. Never missed an episode. The time slot was not that great. On too late for alot of people who would have loved to watch it.

i love this show i was realy looking forward to watch it again i never missed a show and for me thats big i was always looking forward to watching every week please bring it back ! please it was awsome !
Not enough good TV out there anymore!!! I find shows I like and they cancel them before they have had a chance to begin. Honestly, word of mouth works well in getting shows viewed. I think this was premature on the part of ABC.
Finally a great show comes along and you cancelled it after only one season. We all loved it and talked about the show each week it was on. We are very dissapointed and hope another network will pick it up again. The show had great acting and story lines. Please consider bringing this show back, the people were nice to look at too.

I’m truly disappointed Off The Map has been cancelled. I’ve been looking forward to it’s return all summer only to find out it isn’t coming back!!!! I hope another station gives it a chance to prove it’s fan base will grow!
I’m absolutely devastated that this has been cancelled. I only found this the other week and it’s just about to air down here in Australia. How can they end it on such a cliff hanger and not tell us what happened? Surely they would of filmed a few extra episodes… 🙁
I just wish another network could pick it up and run with it, as honestly, it’s one of the best shows on Tv and far outweighs all the reality crap that is constantly being thrown at us.

I loved the show! I was always at church on Wednesday nights and rushed home to make it back to see Off the Map. I was extremely disappointed when I found out it was cancelled. I agree with Debbie. Whether it is ABC or another network there should be another season. I would do my best to be in front of the tv every week to watch!
I can’t believe it was cancelled.. it was a very good show and was getting better every week. I think the low ratings may have been because of the time slot.. it was on very late.. and a lot of people cannot stay up for a program no matter how good it is.. also with online viewing some probably chose to catch it the next day. I think you/ or another network should bring it back…….I loved that show, something fresh for TV instead of the same ole same ole. If you want to get rid of shows then get rid of some of these stupid reality shows.

I totally agree too. I can’t believe “reality” TV is still so popular. As long as people keeping tuning in and eating up this utter garbage, it’s only going to get worse. In the last few years, I watched very little TV. Off The Map was the only show last season (besides Modern Family) that I absolutely would not miss each week. I just found out now that it was canceled when I was checking for the season premiere. I am SO disappointed!
I too am bummed – I loved this show, the characters and the storylines. So nice to watch a medical drama not connected to big modern cities. Any chance of another network taking it on? Would love to see if continued.
I am very dissapointed that ABC cancelled my absolute favourite show on tv!! 🙁 It was the best medical drama i have seen/heard of and the cast was amazing!!!!! every episode left me yearning for more and i know im not the only one! cant believe ABC would be stupid enough to cancel it :O i truely hope this awesome tv series finds its way back to tv!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just checked to see when off the map was coming back on this fall. So mad to see that it’s not!!!!
