The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

Once again, another gem is cancelled in the sea of mediocrity that television has become.
Outsourced was an original show with charcters to love and hate and just enjoy spending time with once a week. I no longer want to watch new shows on network television because once you get invested in one, suddenly it is gone. I guess I’m to be content with Raymond, M*A*S*H, All in the Family and the like. I might add that not all of them had stellar performances in their first seasons either, and now they are classics.
we love this show… big mistake NBC… i used to think you suck… now i think you suck again… btw, tracy morgan isn’t funny… on 30 rock or ever… he’s just annoying… keep pandering to the halfwit collective you call a target audience… i’m done with you… except for sunday night football…

This is why I don’t watch tv anymore. Get into a good show and it gets canceled or it stays on way too long and becomes stupid. They moved it to a later timeslot and I could only catch it on ON DEMAND. Still I watched the episodes over and over. If the fanbase stays true, I hope it follows the footsteps of Family Guy or Arrested Development. Family Guy is incredibly dumb, but the DVD sales peaked Adult Swim’s interest and it was rerun. Fox saw they got rid of the golden goose and took it back. Arrested Development… Read more »
I can’t believe the show was cancelled! We absolutely loved Outsourced! It would be nice if some other network picked it up!
Can we start a petition to get this back?!
THIS IS AN AWESOME SHOW.
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL IT!
This was an absolutely fabulous series, cant believe its cancelled. 🙁
Great first season. Would love to see more, but the network execs have made their decision without considering the options. I’m sure another network would loved to have had this show.
NBC se black poes! They keep stupid **** shows that no one cares about andcancells the best shows, there is a REAL ****** in one of there management positions, either racist or just REALLY stupid!
I wish i knew what would happen in season two and it was hilarious!!! it was a great show
This is awful. I really really enjoyed this show. It was funny and had tons of puns with the their products that they were selling. sigh! I will miss this show.
I loved the movie, and liked the loosely based show…thought it might be a good way for the American public to learn more about Indian culture altho not sure of their accuracy.
This is such a bad decision by NBC – NBC should NOT have moved the time slot to 10:30 – that was horrible! They didn’t give Outsourced a chance, yet they stick with other shows that suck. Very disappointed.
Man this sucks! I seriously fell in love with this series, this show reminded me of Friends except the Indian version. They need to cancel the decision to cancel the show and give a green light for season 2 and air it on a better time.
